I finished that two days ago! Madame Xima was so funny, but my favourite moments of the game were where he stuck his head out of the cell into Monkey Island one (through that stump that isn't anything lol) and the Banjo Duel. Damn good.

The fact is though, that most PC games are available on PS2, Xbox and Gamecube.

That's not true at all. None of the best PC games are available on any console. I was mentioning classic games because I consider all of those games to represent the type of games produced for the PC that aren't produced on consoles. If you want to play sports games, fighting games, racing games, and "twitch action" games than naturally a console is the way to go. I find all of those games boring though. I prefer adventure games, strategy games, and first person games with atmosphere. These are the types of games you can't play on a console. And for those that have been ported, playing a FPS or a strategy game with a gamepad is not even the same thing. My point is that I would rather play Half-Life and the like again than any shiny new console game. Console games are created for a different audience. Look at the top PC games and the top console games and that's obvious. That's the biggest reason why I prefer to play games on the PC, the type of games made for the PC interest me more. I'm not saying they're better, only that they appeal to me more.

And mantis, you HAVE to play Full Throttle if you haven't already. You can probably buy it somewhere for $5. It's hilarious.

Something else I thought of: I like boardgames and strategy games are an extension of that. I like movies and adventure games and FPS are often extensions of that. A lot of the console gaming style comes from classic arcade games of the past and I've never spent much time in an arcade. Not even when I was younger. So that seems to be the big distinction between the two styles. That's why I don't even think of PC Games as videogames. Videogames are made by companies like Nintendo and Sega. Computer games are better called interactive entertainment because they don't come from arcade game developers generally. There really is a significant difference between the two.

Hehe, i'd never heard of it! My friends is a point-and-click fanatic. I'd only played Discworld I and II, but he lent me Indiana Jones: Fate of Atlantis (which I didn't like), Monkey I, II and III and next up is 'Day of the Tentacle'.

Oh yeah, Day of the Tentacle is great. Full Throttle is my favorite of the LucasArts adventures though. It's a heavy metal adventure. The Dig is very good too but it's A LOT more serious than the others.

Why do you think Gamecube is getting cheaper? Crap at the mall its only 60.00$. I mean it's not crap but it got gay games. Doesnt count SSBM,Hunter, and Soul Calibur 2. Anyways GameCube is getting cheaper because Ps2 is still getting more buys.

gamecube--i just got i t cuz im a nintendo fan...i had N64 so i figured id get the next Nintendo console...they have pretty cool games...although i do think they are on the childish side...and i just got SSX3, and it kicks serious ass!

Sure. Thank you for contributing to the discussion. Anyone who uses 'gay' as an adjective in a discussion deserves to be treated like the adolescent they are. Go play your "cool" PS2 games then which undoubtedly involve such "mature" themes as violence and nudity.

Ah hell, who am I kidding. I was adolescent once too. Don't worry about it. Forget what I said. Let me give you some advice though: don't allow yourself to conform. Retain your individuality. Maybe that will mean something to you as you get older. At least I tried.

Just wait till either next year or the year after(i'm not sure) but the PSX is coming along with the PSP which will wipe the floor with x-box, Gamecube and the gameboy. The Playstaion Portable (PSP) will play all playstaion1,2and x(not sure yet?) games and dvds, way better than the gameboy.

Yes but again, the real issue is the games right? As in what new games are being developed for the console. Backwards compatibility is a plus but you don't win the console wars with that as your main selling point. If people see new games they want to play, then they will want the console. Simple as that.

And on the issue of backwards compatibility, I've got to sleight the PC a bit. It should be fully backwards compatible but the newer operating systems (well Windows anyway) are making it harder and harder to play those old classics again.

I voted Gamecube for one reason. The games! Nintendo games are one of a kind and I could not go wiht out my Zelda's, Marios, and especialy Mario Kart. Can't wait for Mario Kart: Double Dash. It got good reviews!
