You do realize that in Japan there's at least one or two others after (or before, maybe) the first, if not more. So, a sequel was all but going to happen when the first remake was released, the only thing stopping it would be a flop, and of course, Ring did anything but flop. The ending certainly leaves room for a sequel, however i doubt a sequel will be made. To add to the story might infact make the first story pointless.
So, we're getting sequel number one, and we may even get sequel number two.
Anyways, the poster isn't really revealing anything, is it? Who's directing? Starring? I need to go see if IMDB has it. I enjoyed the first, although I have sadly yet to see the original, so, I am somewhat excited about this. Anywho, yeah. -

Meh - Womens magazines say shite like that every few weeks.Flockhart will probably no longer be in it... as her and Ford apparently just broke up.
-

Well, Ford asked Spielberg to have a character for her written into the film... so if they're broken up, then they will probably end up giving the character to a more talented actress.Meh - Womens magazines say shite like that every few weeks.

Hello.
Ford finalized his divorce with his wife. Him and Flcokhard didn't break up.
The papers and tabloids kinda misworded the whole situation.

Him and Flcokhard didn't break up. The papers and tabloids kinda misworded the whole situation.

Well, I was reading some things about The Ring2 on the IMDB message boards and they are saying that there also might be a part 3 since the japanese versions is a trilogy. -

First things first... a couple new trailers for films I've already went over.
Van Helsing
- I loved Sommer's "The Mummy" (the sequel sucked). If the disappointing CGI we see here gets fixed it could be the most fun of the summer.
Hidalgo- 2nd trailer
-It really makes the film look like a damn fine adventure story

July- a big month for summer fun
Spider-Man 2 - 7/2/04 (click title for trailer)
Premise: Mild-mannered science student, part-time photojournalist and occasional web-crawling superhero Peter Parker is now attending college at New York City's (fictional) Empire State University, after having graduated from high school in the first movie... and his adventures throw him into conflict with egghead scientist Dr. Otto Octavius (Molina), who becomes grafted to a set of four mechanical arms which he can use to amazing effect... as a "mad scientist" villain some call "Doctor Octopus". Can our webbed hero avoid getting clobbered by two of Doc Ock's metallic arms while dodging the other two? Meanwhile, we're also introduced in this second movie to John Jameson (Gillies), the astronaut son of Peter's mean boss, J. Jonah Jameson (Simmons), who is also Mary Jane's new boyfriend, as she continues to pursue her career as a model, with her face on ads for "Emma Rose" perfume all over New York City
There is something deeply troubling about the sequel. I enjoyed the first film, primarily because the first half of the film about the origin of Spider-Man was enthralling. Unfortunately, aside from the wonderful villain turn by Willem Dafoe, the second half of Spider-Man felt like a slightly improved episode of Power Rangers, replete with some of the worst fight choreography and dialogue of the year. The addition of Doc Ock is welcome, but I am a little nervous about how Raimi handled the "superhero" half of the original and what that means for the sequel. Hopefully it's awesome, but my expectations are not that high. I've gone on record saying that I believe Hellboy will prove to be better.

King Arthur - 7/7/04 (click title for trailer)
Cast: Clive Owen (Arthur, AKA Arturius), Stephen Dillane (Merlin), Keira Knightley (Guinevere), Hugh Dancy (Galahad), Ioan Gruffudd (Lancelot), Stellan Skarsgaard (Cedric), Ray Winstone (Bors), Valeria Cavalli (Fulcinia), Charlie Creed-Miles (Ganis), Joel Edgerton (Gawain), Sean Gilder (Jols), Pat Kinevane (Horton), Ivano Marescotti (Bishop Germanius), Mads Mikkelsen (Tristram), Til Schweiger (Cynric), Ray Stevenson (Dagonet), Ken Stott (Marius Honorius); other cast not announced yet.
Premise: As the Roman Empire crumbles (circa 450 A.D.), the British Isles are thrown into a loose anarchy as errant knights are entrenched in years of territorial battle. Then, one king emerges to unite them, Arthur, with his concept of a Round Table of united knights. This film aims to tie the legend of Arthur into the realities of the time in which he would have ruled. The details of the plot aren't known, but this film will likely depict the battles that led to Arthur's reign, and the issues that he would have dealt with (the traditional "pulling Excalibur out of the stone" origin story will probably not be used).
A summer epic that feels a hell of alot like Gladiator (that's a good thing). I'm interested by the more down to earth re-telling of the story (though I take exception to calling it the "real" story since nothing concrete is known about Arthur). The cast looks great, and Hans Zimmer on the score is always a nice touch. I am given a slight pause by director Antoine Fuqua. Having not seen his first film, he competently directed a pretty good film in Training Day, and was responsible for one of the worst films of this year (Tears of the Sun), though I doubt it was really his fault. I'm very excited.

Anchor Man: The Legend of Ron Burgundy - 7/9/04 (click title for trailer)
Cast: Will Ferrell (Ron Burgundy), Christina Applegate (Veronica Corningstone), Fred Armisen, Steve Carell (Brick Tamland), Kevin Corrigan (Paul Hauser), Chuck D, David Koechner (Champ Kind), Chris Parnell (Garth Holliday), Stephen Root (Vince Masters), Paul Rudd (Brian Fantana), Maya Rudolph (Deedra X), Vince Vaughn (Wes Mantooth), Fred Willard (Ed Harken), Dave Allen, Jack Black (cameo), Chad Everett (Jess Moondragon), Kathryn Hahn (Helen), Jay Johnston, Justin Long (Chris Harken), Tim Robbins (cameo), Tara Subkoff (Sandra), Paul F. Tompkins, Chris Williams (Rashad Harris)
Premise: Set in 1970s San Diego, this is the story of local TV anchorman Ron Burgundy (Ferrell), god's gift to the ladies and the area's most respected reader of the teleprompter of the news fit to be known, who finds his position challenged by an ambitious female newscaster (Applegate) who, unlike Ron, actually knows something about journalism.
Watch the trailer, I emplore you. If you don't think this looks like the funniest movie of the year, I will give you a full refund. Will Ferrell owns.

I, Robot - 7/16/04 (no trailer availible)
Cast: Will Smith (Detective Del Spooner), Bridget Moynahan (Dr. Susan Calvin), Alan Tudyk (character reference for Sonny), James Cromwell (Dr. Lanning), Bruce Greenwood, Shia Le Beouf, Chi McBride; other cast not announced yet. Director Alex Proyas.
Premise: Set in a future Earth (2035 A.D.) where robots are common assistants and workers for their human owners, this is the story of "robotophobic" Chicago Police Detective Del Spooner's (Smith) investigation into the murder of Dr. Miles Hogenmiller, who works at U.S. Robotics (run by Greenwood), in which a robot, Sonny (Tudyk), appears to be implicated, even though that would mean the robot had violated the Laws of Robotics, which is apparently impossible. It seems impossible because... if robots can break those laws, there's nothing to stop them from taking over the world, as humans have grown to become completely dependent upon their robots. Or maybe... they already have? Aiding Spooner in his investigation is a psychologist, Dr. Susan Calvin (Moynahan), who specializes in the psyches of robots. (McBride plays Smith's boss, who encourages him to close the case quickly to avoid political fallout; Cromwell plays the creator of the world's most advanced robots.)
Director Alex Proyas teams up with Will Smith to make something that is SORT-OF an adaptation of the Isaac Asimov story. Despite the fact that it is not following the novel accurately, I am excited because of its ability to be a great action film.

The Village - 7/30/04 (click title for trailer)
Cast: Judy Greer (Kitty Walker), Bryce Dallas Howard (Ivy Walker), William Hurt (Edward Walker), Joaquin Phoenix (Lucius Hunt), Jayne Atkinson, Adrien Brody (Noah Percy), Brendan Gleeson, Cherry Jones, Fran Kranz, Ashton Kutcher, Michael Pitt, Sigourney Weaver (Alice Hunt), Celia Weston
Premise: Set in rural Pennsylvania in 1897, this is the story of the small village of Covington (population 60) surrounded by a woods inhabited by a race of "mythical creatures," and the romance that blossoms between Kitty (Greer), the daughter of the town's leader (Hurt), and Lucius (Phoenix), a young man who questions the policy of keeping Covington's citizens completely confined to the village.
Even if the ending of Signs sucked balls, I am still pretty excited about M. Night Shyamalan's next outing. It is great to see Joquain Phoenix returning for another M. Night project, because he really stole the show in Signs. -

August - a slow month before the onslaught of serious Oscar films.
Collateral - 8/6/04 (no trailer availible)
Cast: Tom Cruise, Jamie Foxx (Max), Paul Adelstein, Javier Bardem, Bodhi Elfman, Dennis Farina, Irma P. Hall (Max's Mother), Bruce McGill, Mark Ruffalo, Jada Pinkett Smith (Annie); other cast not announced yet
Premise: Max (Foxx) is a failed comedy writer living in Los Angeles who makes a living as a cab driver. This movie focuses on one very tumultous day for Max, as he figures out that the fare (Cruise) he's been driving around all day is a contract killer, committing a series of hits. Now, it's up to him to somehow stop the killer from executing the last witness... as well as himself. (Farina and Ruffalo play police detectives tracking down the hired killer; Jada Pinkett Smith plays an assistant state attorney who is on Cruise's hit list.)
Let's get this straight. Michael Mann is probably the best director in Hollywood that no one ever talks about. From The Insider, to The Last of the Mohicans, Heat, Manhunter, and the underrated but very flawed Ali, (he also has the Gates of Fire, about the battle of Thermoplyae in developlment), I will anticipate anything new that coems from in. Tom Cruise playing a villain is also very interesting. Originally slated for October, it was pushed ahead to August as production went faster than expected.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Blade: Trinity - 8/13/04 (no trailer availible)
Cast: Wesley Snipes (Blade), Ryan Reynolds (Hannibal King), Kris Kristofferson (Whistler), Jessica Biel (Abigail Whistler), HHH AKA (Jean-Paul Levesque), John Michael Higgins, Natasha Lyonne, Parker Posey (Danica), Dominic Purcell (Dracula/Drake), James Remar, Steve Braun (FBI Agent Wilson Hale), Scott Heindl (Gedge), Callum Keith Rennie, Ron Selmour (Dex); other cast not announced yet.
Premise: Realizing they may never be able to defeat the vampire hunter known as Blade the Dayhunter (Snipes), the vampires who control the infrastructures of human society set Blade up to appear like a psychopathic serial killer, with the FBI soon on his tail, thinking he is some sort of horrible monster. The plan is successful, as Blade's ability to hunt vampires is limited severely, even as they have awakened the granddaddy of them all, Dracula (AKA "Drake") (Purcell), a pure vampire with amazing abilities others do not possess. To take on the threat of this most powerful vampire, Blade accepts the help of a team of human vampire hunters called the Nightstalkers... (Parker Posey plays a vampire)
The original Blade still stands as one of the finest examples of a comic book film in Hollywood. While the sequel was fun, but disappointing, I am still hoping that the third might possibly come close to the awesome first movie. Plus, it's directed by the guy who does the voice for Solid Snake in the MGS games (David Goyer).
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Others that might be worth looking at...
Alien vs. Predator (apparently the shoot has turned into an absolute disaster), A Sound of Thunder (could be good, but other than it's based on the Ray Bradbury story, I don't know enough about it to form an opinion) -

At the turn of the century, there became no reason to watch SNL. Luckily Will's still producing top-notch comedy, only in movies. Is he hilarious or what.
"So, how's the divorce? Oh, not good, I'll probably never see my kids agai-
"Fantastic!"
