Source: http://ve3d.ign.com/...9/489671p1.htmlFebruary 03, 2004 - Atari revealed some new titles during their financial shiznit yesterday. The most exciting (although anticipated) announcement for me was that of a full 3D RollerCoaster Tycoon game from Chris Sawyer, due out late 2004.
I'm personally excited about this news, because I've always wanted a 3D mode in RCT, and because Chris Sawyer is making it!
I'm looking forward to the E3 in may where more details will be revealed...

I have a feeling my computer won't be able to run it. I also have a feeling the game will be more about the "Tycoon" part and coasters and less about parkmaking. Even if it was like LL combined with the best part of RCT2 but in 3D, I believe it should be very hard to build parks in it.
I also don't think it will be like normal RCT but with a RCTGL-like 3D mode, because if they add a 3D mode the game won't be able to run on older computer, which was one of the reason RCT has the simplistic graphics it has.
They'll probably add WW/TT-like graphics while they're at it. -

An interesting move, and one that I feel is good news in that there's another game coming - the rct community will stay alive - and one that is imo necessary for the game to progress. I mean, you can see the guys who made TT were trying too hard to make good graphical scenery. Although the scenery on its own, out of rct, looked nice and "new" in the game, it was shite. So for me, a necessary move. But that doesn't mean it's going to come off well... -

A fully 3D RCT... Hmmm, maybe it could turn out to be like those programs where you can view your parks in fully 3D?
Now that would be fuckin a! -

My last post was a bit pessimistic, so I'll post a new one.
I hope they make it as a sort of add-on compitable with both rct1 and 2 that allows you to walk around the park, fly around and the rides. That would be very nice.
I just wonder how they, if they made such a game, would handle custom scenery. -

give me more frickin flat rides DAMN IT!
it'd be cool to be able to ride your rides, as well as that run through the park yourself along with all the other peeps inside. sweet.. maybe have an online thing, so we can hook up NE to its spotlights and everyone can enjoy together... sorta like Cyber parks where we could build an IOA and go and enjoy it together, except we haven't REALLY gone there.. makes sense i hope.. it'd be fun -

Does anyone else have the feeling that RCT2 was just a stop gap so that RCT"3"d would be the third in the installment. Thus the fact that there really was little new code in rct2 and the method in which custom scenery was executed. I am a little worried that the creative aspects of rct in a 3d form will not carry over so well tho. We'll just wait and see I guess. Late 2004 isn't too far away. -

It's too close considering all of the projects in RCT 2 I'd like to get done before getting distracted by a new game...besides, how good will it be if your (and others') custom scenery isn't compatible? We'll just wait and see I guess. Late 2004 isn't too far away.

well why doesn't some or iris send a letter/email saying that we new element 'the home of good parks, good scenery makers and good coaster knowledge' would like to offer our help and support in giving the fans what they want -

That would make a better game. The expansion packs for RCT2 were pahtetic, a total waste of money. To be honest i dont want the graphics to RCT2 changed, if it does it wont feel RCT and i wont buy it. I would rather a 3D park walker so that i can walk around my own created parks, with NoLimits type graphcs or better.well why doesn't some or iris send a letter/email saying that we new element 'the home of good parks, good scenery makers and good coaster knowledge' would like to offer our help and support in giving the fans what they want
I think the online thing mentioned above sounds good. A day out to Rivers of Babylon  -

I said this at RCT2.com and will say it here.
RCT2.com sent a petition which over 150 people signed to Atari telling them to do stuff.
Atari doesnt care a/b 150 people...they have a ton of these sold, and they dont care if 150 people wont buy RCT3.
It's dissapointing, but I'm expecting it to be crap. I mean, if there was a traditional way to make parks, then a 3d mode, we could just have the option of NOT using the 3d mode...although it would be a nice choice and would be rewarding after making a park. I'd love to ride my GTA Ride in 3d with all that shit exploding on you. But if its gonna be like SimThemepark...no. -

That was suggested over a year ago, actually, before RCT 2 came out.Does anyone else have the feeling that RCT2 was just a stop gap so that RCT"3"d would be the third in the installment. I just hope it's somehow compatible with RCT 2 parks... because I'd have to learn a whole new style if it wasn't!
Maybe Chris just decided to team up with Dark Helmet!
