I reality, it would seem nearly impossible to play the game in a simulation mode if it were entirely 3d, so I would expect there to be separate 3d and overview modes for your parks. I'm not convinced that this will be terrible...it would seem likely to me the CS may have been working on this long before rct2 was released. I also still have some faith in CS as he was not responsible for the travesties that were WW and TT. Obviously RCT2 was a money grab designed only to keep new RCT software on the shelves and selling while the true sequel to RCT was developed. Thus the lack of time spent on expansions or seemingly the original game itself. As for RCT3d playing on slow computers...too bad, the gaming industry cannot and should not develop for older out of date hardware. If your computer doesn't run new software, I'm sure there will always be a following for LL and RCT2. I think I'll wait to pass judgement on this until I see pics and know more about it. If it's shite, I'll be happy to play the games we have. As for projects presently underway, I guess I'll just have to get to work and finish before Christmas.
Finally to address custom scenery...of course the existing custom scenery in RCT2 would not be viewable in 3d mode and the only way I see custom scenery being a part of RCT3 would be if it was possible to import 3d models into the program...something I am very unlikely to do. The removal of custom scenery may not be a bad thing tho...LL did breed a lot more creativity into realising themes than RCT2, so I don't think it would necessarily be a step backwards. That and I'm tired of cleaning out my objdat folder. -

This great news, i am so glad Chris Sawyer is making it, so we all know with him on the team that it will be good.
Just a few things i'd like to see, although some may not be possible,
1. I hope this is Rct 1+ the expansions, Rct 2 , and NL mixed.
2. I hope they give us the option to go into 3D(so we can view the parks we made and take 3D mode off to make them, cause in 3D making parks would be very hard.) and ride our coasters in 3D(hence the NL part).
3. More and new coaster and ride types and not just crappy rethemed ones like in WW and TT.
4. New and better scenery than what was givin in WW(some of the scenery in this expansion was not all that bad and some was very useful, which is why i bought it) and TT.
5.ROCKET COASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (that goes over 400ft and can have inversions and can go vertical and so forth. Can anyone say TTD recreations?)
6. Give us the option to choose a mix of both High and Low intensity type guests along. (It would make parks more realistic)
7.Some way to let us keep making Custom Scenery and adding it into the game.
I and lokoing forward to this and i hope it is really good since CS is making it.
EDIT:
How do you sort through all those objects? I have 4,706 objects in my objdat folder and i bet half of them are worthless. That and I'm tired of cleaning out my objdat folder.

I probably won't run on my computer, or will have good feature from RCT2 taken out, i'm not to excited about this, i was excited about RCT2 and it was a big disappointment. -

Hehe, long live Loopy Landscapes! These new file sizes are going to be huge and annoying. I'm sticking with LL- it can't compare.

Well crap. Isometric view is good enough! My computer will never be able to run anything 3D. It already has problems running the original RCT. I guess I need a job so I can buy myself a nice Apple, that will run anything. -

Yes, I know. The statement was more of a refrence to the power of a G4 or G5, the speed and a respectible graphics card.^ Anything if you have VirtualPC on it, otherwise your statement is wrong.

Or save your money and build a PC.

But PC's are crap. Ever wonder what PC stands for? It's "Please Cuddle" because it requires so much attention. Apple is the way to go. Anyways, this is getting a bit off topic, sorry. I will no longer reply about my future computer.[font="Arial"]

I have a bad feeling about this. It better have a "classic" mode, aka 2D just like RCT1 and RCT2. I can imagine the pain of building anything RCT in 3D. This will likely be very good and hopefully a new generation of RCTer's will come on to the internet and join the community. Truethfully I couldn't care less. I like RCT2 overall and RCT/LL is alright too. Truethfully I hope they don't relay on us to fix their problems this time (RCT2 needed custom screanery and thank god for ToonTowner!).
I don't think they'll be able to "convert" me to the new and strange game that would be RCT 3D.
Just a fun fact before I go: RCT1 without any expansions is the 2nd highest selling computer game in history behind The Sims.

Chances are you'd just build in 2D and view in 3D. So that'd be how it'd work out, at least in my mind. -

Im sorry but I cant believe people are saying they wish it would stay in 2D. Whats even more outragous is the fact that some people are saying it just because of their PC speed. "CS, please dont make RCT3 in 3D because my PC isnt good enough". I dont get how you could want another 2D game, when you've already got two. Classics never die, LL will live on forever, so whats wrong with a little variation in the series. Its not as if the advent of RCT3 will bring about the death of LL or RCT2, the only way it would was if it was a totaly outstanding game, in which case, roll on RCT3.
As for those saying it might be dissapointing, let me just say, the majority thought RCT2 was dissapointing, yet, you still play it!?
Anywho I have 100% trust in CS to make this legendary, if not, well..... we've still got LL/RCT2. -

If RCT3D sucks then i will continue to play Rct 2 as i always have. If it is good( which i am sure it will be cause of CS being on the team) then i'll play that and Rct 2 and eventully get good at both.Im sorry but I cant believe people are saying they wish it would stay in 2D. So just do it that way, if this turns out to be crap then at least you have LL and/or Rct 2 to fall back on. No biggee. Try it before you judge it.
WW imo was an good expansion to and yet you all judge it just cause it has SOME sucky scenery and crappy scenerios. Most of it's scenery is very useful, just look at TA my Disney park, or even Mad Dawg's, all 3 parks use WW scenery and loook how there shaping up. Now TT we can all agree was crap in every way.
So now getting back on topic, just wait till it is released, buy it , try it, and if you like it then keep it, if you don't then return it. -

I think that would be the best option. Maybe, if its feasable, they should also add the chance to be a peep and wander around the park and maybe even ride the rides.Chances are you'd just build in 2D and view in 3D. So that'd be how it'd work out, at least in my mind.

Yeah. Basically, what I picture it is this:
Construction mode:
Retained in 2-D isometric mode, with graphics cleaned up but the overall gameplay similar to how it's always been.
Viewer's mode:
This is the 3-D part, featuring a glorified RCTGL engine to render stuff in much crisper and cleaner graphics (more professional looking; DH will be the first to tell you that his project is a personal and amateur attempt, not that it's bad).
