  • $35.00 donated, a fair price to pay for the pro-tour I reckon!

Can't you make your mum a parkmaker, or offer to go without food for a week :twitch:

  • Good thread Kumba, seeing the deadline coming I reviewed who won what a few weeks ago....here's what struck a cord with me second time around:
    1. Infestation at outpost 23 (round 10) by CBass
    Still has the wow factor.
    2. Silver Streak (round 6) By RWAdams
    3. Hacieneda Resort (round 1) by Deanosrs
Tough round to win, this was a great entry
    4. First Knight (round 8) RWAdams
My second choice of RWAdams entries, Great reporoduction of camelot from the film.
    5. Infriendly invador (round 10) by Phatage
Wacky, well deserved winner, feat some fine crafted hacks
    6. The zodiac (round 7) by Kumba
Fine themeing, flamming skulls and the best use of tri-colourd supports ever!
    7. Falcon (round 12) by darkfire
Interesting entry, great feel of the game and the rides interaction with the senery is perfect.

I was glad to have entered this competition (round 5), disappointed to have ranked low, but the favourable comments at the time made up for the effort.....good luck to those who made it.

  • There has obviously been a lot of hard work gone into this weeks entries and as we reach the end of the preliminaries for the pro-tour, lots of the earlier entrants are realising that they are not going to qualify with just one more week to go....such is the nature of this competiton unfortunatly :'(

Deanosrs- Don't feel bad about not winning this week, and don't feel obliged to rush an entry for the video game round. Your entries for the pro-tour have raised your profile amoungst NE and earn't you a lot of admirers. In fairness this was not your best round, I didn't like the rows of orcs (they looked like toys lined up) and somehow it seemed to lack the character of your other entries. (also the submerged gondor cannons reminded me of the film Tremors :) )
For me your mexican hotel entry was the winner from week1. The pool, tennis courts, beach changing area...this one hit the mark for me.

RWAdams-Before the Pro-tour started you had already shown us your skill at the art deco themeing, which is why I think your hotel was a bit of a let down for me (as spectacular as it is). Silver streak I liked a lot wonderful industrial theming and understated (the entrance area is heavily masked by trees, as you delete these the gorgeous planting around the shops reveals itself) I think only the ride let it down. This time though....hail to the emperor. Perfect classical architecture. Its like a slice of the forum in Rome has been placed onto the screen. The ride fits neatly into this with an inspired contrasting colour scheme which works well. (the chess piece horses head statue reminds me of the most famous peice of the Parthenon marbles). Like Mantis though my only quibble is how closely this uses the brief of a Movie themed ride.

AustinP- Alcatraz in RCT2...inspired! The family blocks /guards cinema / observation towers, all recreated in detail, good work and probably the most fitting for the title of this round...Do you think Nicolas Cage will cut the ribbon at the opening?

    One more week to go

  • I can't with any heart criticise this trilogy in any way. Who in their wildest dreams could have imagined such a glorious screen version of the lord of the rings.
The rich detail of the adaptation is so perfect and un-holywood all credit to Jackson for fighting for his vision of the book.

Of course the books were never intended to be in three volumes, this was something forced on Tolkien by the publishers. And in fact I like Jacksons dividing of the volumes better in the films: Having Boromier die at the end of the fellowship worked well, as did moving Shelob to this last film and highlighting the two towers with the Helms deep battle. Perfect :D

My four favourite personel 'bits' were 1. The battle with the Orc Boar riders in the two towers 2. The opening sequence of two towers with Gandalf battling the Bowlrog (sp) only briefly mentioned in the books and yet perfectly realised in the film, 3. Gollum (from his scabby back to his blackend teeth) a CGI masterpiece 4. Sean Austin....so perfect as Samwise.

Looking forward to those missing ROTK scenes in the four disc collectors set next Autumn.

  • Good luck to this weeks entrants, fingers crossed for a repeat of the quality of work we saw last week. I Can't add to the superlatives praised upon last weeks winners, both entries were very different and both were fantastic.

The alien, liquid and hotel rounds have been the highlights of the tour premileries so far IMHO. Looking forward to seeing what the challenge is for the main competition.

I never quite finished my movie themed entry (which I was hoping to enter for the dark rides round) It was based on Charlie and the chocolate factory. The factory Interior and exterior are finished but some of the external themeing I never completed (fountain of the golden ticket . :) ) I will finish it soon though and post it on one of the boards.
You can see some stills of 'The Chocolate Room' before I covered it with the factory structure on my webshots page. As per usual with me the external structures are huge (like my Palace of Fear and Snow queens palace) I can't get my head around these 2x2 block buildings....... ???
