Great job Louis! You made great use of the trackitecture. I can't download it because I don't have LL, but overall, it looks great from what I see here.

That's why I can't bring myself to play RCTLL, posix. The stuff I actually enjoy building isn't up to the kind of standards that would merit showing it off, so I don't bother.

Louis, the only thing I really didn't like in the entire park was all the floating station and storage track roofs. The surroundings, park layout, and coaster designs were all solid.

Well, I'll be one to admit that I'm too lazy to transfer my ideas from my head to the game.

That said, my ideas are pretty shitty to start with. lol

Says the guy who has two designs, a PT3 entry, and competed in H2H5.

And many, many more failed ideas too. A blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while. My ideas have been relatively normal overall, nothing mindblowing or really "new."

Aside the point though. Codex is a wonderful thing, but at the same time it can be a very terrible thing for LL, depending on how you look at it and depending on the player who would be utilizing it.

In the same way that calculators are a terrible thing for math...

I absolutely love the layout of the large wooden guy in the back, Louis. The style is a bit outdated for my tastes in the rest of the park, but it is well done. A new school park with old school building style.

Can't quite tell if you were being sarcastic there, but either way I think you definitely could make that argument. Depending on the perspective, calculators can be a terrible thing for math. Can also be an amazing thing, naturally.

nah, calculators can never be a terrible thing for math.

you can argue that they may be a 'terrible' thing for a student of math, yes, but as far as coming up with solutions to mathematical problems, calculators are god. the same goes for codex... in a way. it is absolutely amazing for the game, no doubt... but it may not do amazing motivational work for a player like posix, liampe, etc. who don't feel comfortable using it, or just prefer old-school aesthetics.

this codex argument is the same one as always. it all comes down to what you want to spend time doing in the game. personally, i hate making custom supports. my work is never really realistic anyway, so for me it doesn't matter. i'd rather not take the time to do them, so i don't. if someone dislikes my work because of that, that's their prerogative.

I think from the overview this was alright but landscaping was at a minimum for sure.
  • Gwazi%s's Photo
RMM, that was what I was thinking about when I wrote my last post. If people don't learn math as well because of calculators, one might argue that calculators are a terrible thing for math.

Turtle, I don't even care for the "audience" factor. It's just not satisfactory to design parks without hacking once you're used to it. But oh well, I'll try to start a park with nothing but two hacks: unlimited money and frozen weather.
  • Louis!%s's Photo
Good luck with that, I find you can't do anything without zero-clearancing.
  • Gwazi%s's Photo
Yeah the only hacks I don't mind are unlimited money and zero-clearancing. Anything beyond that is tedious for me.

I rarely use it. Most of the Giari Palms entrance area is built without zero clearance and stuff, and the hacks I did aren't very important. I did 70% of Li'ampolis 500 BC without any hacking at all because my trainers didn't work back then. It's possibly to make pretty stuff without hacking... Especially in a minimal style (posix, hint).

How much hacking is there in Schuessler's IoA?
  • posix%s's Photo
Good point Liam. He used a lot of shop burying and sometimes changed trains on rides ...
  • Ling%s's Photo
My only issue is that I find my preferred style is realism, yet I can't get my head around the hacks that remove or make ride entrances/exits invisible while the ride remains peepable. I'm working on a design where I want to allow peeps, but it clashes with having a "normal" station and queue.
  • Louis!%s's Photo
I know you can do things without zero-clearancing, what I meant was that it is such a simple way of adding subtle detail that can improve a park immensely.

    Individual Replies Part 1...

Posix - Thanks, neither do I, I just started building and it just continued. Amazing really lol. I know it became a bit repetitive haha, but its no different to people always using Kumba's Corrugated rooved throughout RCT2 :p

Gwazi - Glad you enjoyed it, it's great to hear good things from you :)

Goliath - Cheers, the peeps just make the place more lively :)

Liam - I don't think it's as unrefined as you thing it is, and I think the panel obviously agrees lol. I personally love the schwarzkopf area lol. The reason I didn't revisit the weaker areas is because I'm planning on revisiting the park as a whole, either using codex to jazz it up or, more probable, building it in rct2, i've always loved the idea of something being built in both games and comparing the differences. Thanks for the in depth comment!

PC - I've replied to you already :p

Jonny - Cheers, It's not the most amazing showcase of my parkmaking skills, but it will do :p

Fisch - I've already replied to you too :)

    Arjan - Buy LL.

I mean... Stuff like this was all over the park:

I call this unrefined, and there were more buildings and areas like this. Such a missed opportunity!

Looking forward to seeing the upgraded version. Preferably in LL, just because.
