Best idea of the year goes to the carts on Koopa Beach slowing down when they hit the grabs!  How in the fuck did you do that?  Full review will come later

The most amazing part of this park for me is no matter how many times I have looked at it over the past few months every time I find new details. This all came together in a great way and is one of the most unique things in a long time.

holy shit. the fact that you made the shortcuts work????? the fucking CRABS??? jesus christ. this is insane.

I know I've barely scratched the surface on this park, but my first impressions are this is one of the best parks this site has seen in a long time.  It's a great idea that is new and interesting and not just that but executed extremely well.  You managed to create a park that is not based on roller coasters or theme parks in any way and turn it into a theme park without destroying the original intent of the game.  It all works so well and your ride selection was fantastic.

This is a clear spotlight in my mind, but regardless, you should be incredibly proud of this park not only in the quality of work but in finishing something so large!

Congrats, and best of luck when this gets to the panel :)

I think this is a great piece of Rct, I'm still finding little details now that I missed the first few times around!

I think this is high quality gold work, but I don't know about spotlight. As I said before, this not being an actual theme park with flat rides and coasters makes me shy away from spotlight. Hopefully we can get a bit of a debate going on about this as I'm interested to see others opinions!

this not being an actual theme park with flat rides and coasters

Theme parks don't necessarily have flat rides and coasters. I mean this is a themed park where people could come and get amused, so I don't see the problem.

I was literally saying 'what the fuck' for a couple of minutes when I saw the crabs. How did you do that?!

  • bigshootergill%s's Photo

:D Of all the hacks (and there are literally a TON of hacks in this park), I didn't expect the crabs to be such a big hit. I plunked the 'flying saucers' ride on the edge of the kart track, reduced the the crabs to 4 so it didn't get too plugged up, but I honestly wasn't expecting it to work as well as it did.

I need to add one more expression of thanks to nicman. Sorry for not getting your name in the readme, it was one of the last things I did before I released the park and your name totally slipped my mind. Thanks for building the go-kart and shy guy objects, your helped motivated me to play around with the object editor and create a bunch of my own objects for the park. Thanks a million bro, both objects proved to be extremely valuable in this park!!!! :)

This park is Great!!!!!. The best I have seen words can't describe how good it is.

  • Coasterbill%s's Photo

Thanks for including me in this, both as a builder and as a beta tester. It was an absolute blast watching this come together. You did an amazing job, this is one of the most fun parks I've ever seen on NE and that's a pretty amazing accomplishment.

Fantastic work! I really enjoyed the balloon battle ride. This park is super creative and I enjoyed every bit of it!

  • CoasterCreator9%s's Photo

This is really great; I love the way you incorporated other elements of the Mario universe into the other attractions in the park. The shops in particular were really fun (especially that Chain Chomp one!)

The tracks themselves are fantastic, and I think the rest of the park ties them together in a fun way. I really liked the incorporation of the Baby Park coaster as an actual ride. Makes me wish a giant go kart park like this really existed.

I gotta say this is my new favorite park! It was beautifully made and it was nice seeing a park centered around one of my favorite game franchises. Thanks for the CSO pack btw ;)

wow this park is incredible. I know i'm really behind on my accolade panelist duties but I had to check this one out asap. I'll sleep on my vote I think, but just wanted to say that every track feels perfect, the atmosphere is lively and fun and imaginative, everything is fantastic. more detailed and well-composed than I expected it to be also. fantastic all around.

I also reckon you should post this to reddit, r/gaming. if you did it right you could get a lot of attention. unseat that other dumb park that made the rounds a couple months ago, because this park is actually really good

congrats. one of my favourite parks of all time.

Woah! Thanks Lou! That means a lot!

I must have revisited each track dozens of times, to do touch ups, adjustments, subtractions, additions... good tips from some testers... thanks for the compliment!

As for r/gaming I'm not a frequenter of that reddit, but I may post it over there. I'm not a big fan of dumb parks. :D

@ everyone else - I'm appreciating the love this park is getting, I was iffy on how it would be received considering it's coming from a fresh angle. I'm stoked everyone is enjoying it! :) Can't wait to hear some solid reviews in time.

Mario Kart is easily my second favorite video game (TMNT-IV: Turtles in Time is unbeatable at #1) ever, just I am super old school. SNES was my last Nintendo system and even now my most modern console is a PS2. I know almost nothing about Mario Karts on all the future systems this park seems to cover, so I am sure I missed quite a few things in the park, but know the basics.

    Entrance/Mushroom Cup

The entry area was okay, but not very impressive. The little maze was really nice and I like the Q interaction. The Moo Moo Farm track was very nice, looks right out of a video game. The baby Mario coaster was really good, just I hated that kinda cage thing over the small kiddie race track. The way it almost touches the corkscrew looked so bad I deleted it, lol. Thwomp was really good, great use of the brown theme! That object was fantastic, best in the park. You and nicman really did some great things with the objects to nail the atmosphere. Sorry I was not any help with the objects. The Luigi race track was nice, loved the pits/garage area details you had there. Great to see the balloon battle mini-game worked in and the Bobomb ride was cool.

    Star Cup

Yoshi Island was amazing. I sometimes miss really obvious big picture landscapes (WOMB took me a while to get), but this is clearly Yoshi and very well done. Love the 3D cinema saddle, the eyes and hands... so awesome. Your best work has something of a 5Dave feel to it and that's a very good thing. Mount Wario, honestly just didn't like too much about it. Good race and I like the chairlift, but stuff like the plane jump and driving on the dam just made my eyes roll. I think Nintendo is more to blame for that, Wario is a dumb character. DK Mountain had a great area at the base, the Q and the shops were really great. However, I think the mountain kinda fails to present well to peeps on the approach. The back of it is kinda better and what I would have expected in the front. The DK face is good, just having the mountain landscape as the face in some way would have been better. The Grumple Volcano was nice, no idea what it is, but it added the the park.

    Special Cup

Loved the ghost track! I do some damage on these levels, they are my best and favorite. Rainbow Road was great, pretty much exactly what it should be. Bowser's Castle was outstanding, I love the head/mouth you made for it. Great castle-scaping. Roy Koopa stall, fantastic detail!

    Flower Cup

The biggest and best area. The Mario circuit track was kinda dull compared to the others, but it's a level 1 type, so it makes sense. Shy Guy Falls was a good track, tho it seemed a little randomly built. The mine tarin layout was not great, tho I really like the diagonal drop under the lift. The mine themeing was pretty good. idk wtf a Waluigi is, but that stadium was great. Loved the hacked wooden coaster to get the stands to look just right. It had a great feel, very monster truck jam like which worked very well. The Dry Dry Desert was awesome. I love the quicksand and dust storms. Koopa Beach... so good. Tho, I would liked to see the race have some brief moments skipping on the water like in the original. The crabs hack was really clever. Those ride types temporarily jam each other up, but get lose after a few seconds. Nice use of the Koopa land shape and I noticed the special umbrellas.

Overall, one of the most enjoyable and fun parks I have seen. It was like a combo park by cBass, 5Dave and JKay might look like and that's a big compliment. I liked that no coasters played a major role. That would taken away from the overall theme, but great to see you still had secondary non-race ride types.

Congrats on (what I assume will be) NE Spotlight! :kumbasgreen:
  • nicman%s's Photo

While I do like this park, I dont think that it fits very well into rct2 to be a spotlight. Although there are some great details, some parts just feel off in rct2 for me.

To me i prefer something like JWAK which is more of a theme park. which is why I only gave it a 75%.

  • Cocoa%s's Photo

well my last minute change of heart on whether I thought this was spotlight ended up being the tiebreaker... did not realize the pressure was on me :0

congratulations!!! at the end of the day, I imagined seeing this logo with all the logos of other spotlight parks, and I thought it should go there too. really encapsulated the fun and excitement at NE. felt in some ways like a redemption for the style that divinity ridge and others wore out.
