you see....people have no education anymore and they dont understand the park .....

the park is called ART OF WAR , not WAR THEME . it's based on military tactics in different time periods.
with a siege in the castle area. a 1 to 1 ship battle in the naval area, a blitz krieg tactic in the dday area and a confusing "star wars battle" in the future area. When they explained that to me I tought it very good and really liked the park. but it seems there should have been a read me with the park cause most people dont even know the book "the art of war" by Sun Tzu, and the ones who do know it dont remember it probally.

to bad such a great park will be beating by such a boring park.... seems that my opinion about the community is still right.

Well, the first sreen hides the letdown to see those two parks in game. I was clearly disappointed except for some small pieces proving of value.
Hard as it may sound, I haven't felt anything in both parks.
(Doesn't mean the parks are bad, but not that brilliant they seemed on the pics)

    Elementalists:
The theme doesn't please myself at all. RCT and War shouldn't belong together, but your skills and all the hacks are really nice to look at.
You could have made more theming next to the lake, because it seemed to be a little blank (e. g. another island and better foliage).
The castle was rough-textured and extremely massive, what I don't really like about it.

    Hurricanes:
Your theming was like thrown together. Many of the buildings don't fit for the theme there...
I do like the Asian pagoda most and it was a great idea to build a parade in this park and the Eiffel Tower was nice, too.
The effects at first were superb, I liked that a lot and concerning all this I voted for you.

Levis, I know all that. The park itself wasn't as good.

    Someone's mad.

    nope, just pissed.

cause I see a park which has some really unique things and new finds in it, some of the finds may even change the way parks will look in the future (for example take a look at the revolving station and look where the entrance and exit are and do the same for the trebuchet ride).
And this park loses agains a park which copies the last releases and is done by majesty a 100 times better already. also i see people like a park cause they think its realistic but when you look closely there are probally a 1000 things which couldn't be done in real life or there are a lot of problems or things missing for a real life park ..... if you DO realism, do it good and stick to realism. but don't add some fantasy to impress the people but say its a realistic park. never mind ..... most people wouldn't even understand ... how could they, they see the game as a brickset with fixed rules and a fixed grid and you can only places some things which are in the rule book (which is written by others) or else it would fail .... but some see the game as a way to build theire dreams and try new things, those people try to push the game to its limits in every way, and only release things to show others what it possible to and let them have some of the fun, but they build theire parks for them self. the other group which is stuck in rules almost experience the game as work and post pictures and release parks to get compliments for theire hard work. they enjoy the attention they get from the community. THIS IS WRONG !

    THIS IS A GAME !

    Fixed for "bring-back-down-to-earth" reasons.

If I werent a Hurricane, I'd also have voted for WSC. Out of one reason. It was more fun to watch.

Sure, the hacks in AOW were massive and some of them jawdropping, as the dday bombers. But RCT for me is about bein aesthetically pleasing. And so was WSC. I know that some people here voted for AOW because of the hacks and stuff. But you can't put up a rule placing technique over aesthetics. H2H is about building something and impress the majority of the other members. How you impress them is insignificant. And if most of the players here are impressed by aesthetics - so be it. Period.

i agree with what mifune said.

levis, i can understand your viewpoint, and i like that you're getting worked up over this. shows you're passionate :)
what i think is the reason why people prefer realism over fantasy is simply because we are all theme park fans. if we weren't, we'd probably never have touched rct. that's why it makes sense why many people try to use the game as a modeling tool for real life. it's much like with a model railway. people try to make that look as realistic as possible, too. i don't think i've ever seen a "fantasy" model railway type of thing being sold. in rct, it's the very same thing. fantasy doens't sell as well as realism. and sell-out style, what i would guess you call "realism" altogether, is simply a huge factor of h2h.

I applaud Levis for his passion for the game. I'll post later with my thoughts about both parks. I somehow think Leo your going a bit too far bad-mouthing our park just because we're getting more votes.

For me I haven't seen an Eiffel tower drop ride before, or a submarine sybolising a termite mound. I also haven't seen A brazilian dancestage or a firework show that good. It's not a copied park its another palyers vision for what he wanted to produce. He did it well and we are recieving more votes at this current time.

To state that we built this park to gain votes is false. The parkmakers all had an interest in epcot and they produced the park to the best of their abilities.

As I said in-depth reviews later.

Levis, I appreciate innovation a lot. The trebuchet ride was a joy to watch, and I loved the feeling of looking at the dday bombers and having to look again to see how it was done. However, I prefer innovation when it looks good, serves a purpose, and creates an atmosphere. An example of this would be the frozen elephant in the "Elephant and Castle" British car ride. The little attention to detail and background theming that makes a park immersive.

I think the Hurricanes' park actually bit off more than it could chew. Too many themes on such a small map, but I appreciate the way it was done a LOT. It was clever. The whole thing was clever. Good use of existing ideas mostly, but in a new way. I've never seen frozen staff used as theming before, it's a really good idea. Instead of a "Wow, I have never seen that before, how is that done?" thought, such as looking at the trebuchet ride, I get a "That is very clever. VERY clever. Why didn't I think of that?" thought, which I like.

Looking at the overviews, I thought I would vote for the Elementalists. I have nothing against the Art of War as a theme, although I personally wouldn't do it. But I thought mostly it was done very nicely. Possibly too deep in the World War II area, the graveyard was slightly close to the bone. But a nice contrast between each area. Every area had one or two cool things to look at, something new, what have you, really nice ideas. However it didn't come together as a whole for me. The atmosphere was lacking, which is a pity, as war is probably a pretty atmospheric place. You could have done so much more with the castle area. The castle was too big and looked rushed, substance without worth. I didn't feel immersed.

That last sentence probably sums up the reason why I voted for the Hurricanes on this one. It was more polished, refined, atmospheric, and cleverer. The posts complaining that no-one "understood" the park are slightly annoying. Quite apart from the (probably unintended) insult as to my intelligence, i'd argue that it is YOUR perogative to make sure the voting public understands the park as much as possible, if you care so much about the way the votes go.

    Both parks were absolutely stunning.

I loved the bomb-drops, the space ships, the elevator structure with peeps walking around, the tents and so much more in the AoW.

I loved the carnaval stadium, the russian building, the log flume, the virginia reel.. well i basically loved everything in World Showcase. Each building worked with the next even though being completely different. The show was nice but I really don't see how that was the highlight of the park. Architecturaly this park was very sound. The coaster worked well in the small space. And pointless rides? I loved the LIM coaster for what it was. It didn't use much space and the station was brilliant.

I felt more for WS. I felt that AoW was too over the top on moving things mid-air, which were too confusing to me. I looked at both parks yesterday and thought this, looked at them again today and noticed a lot of new little things in both.

Levis, even though I voted against your park I really don't feel like I don't understand your team's park. I feel that you don't understand the other teams park. It's very hard to compare these two parks but in the end I, and apparantly many others, went with WS. It had plenty, plenty of originality and uniqueness and it was executed really smoothly.

I'd say AoW would have won a lot of other matchups.
It would be absolutely swell, especially as a spectator, if the quality of this matchup is maintained throughout the competition.

It definitely gave room for thought and discussion! (as the posts before me point out)

It's a shame so many teammates are posting a pro-their-team post, though, and not being very subtle about it. Or worse, in Gwazi's case, tearing on the other teams park.
But saying we're all adults here would be kind of off, right?

Elementalist's park took forever to load.

it was an awesome park though. there were plenty of fucking awesome hacks, like the plane dropping the bomb and the cannonballs. definately some creativity here. however, i don't feel that a war theme should be combined with an RCT2 park, let alone one with guests. its like making a game out of war; making it something to celebrate. i don't know about anyone else, but i don't think seeing over 20 million people die in two wars alone is much of something to celebrate.

as i watched that plane drop that bomb, a guest walked right into the blast and i imagined him flying off to the side, mutilated by the blast. it was just not what i wanted to see. the technical aspects of the park were amazing and the park was well done, particularly for its theme. however, even if i weren't on the Hurricanes i don't think i'd be able to vote for something like this. i'm sorry guys

So you liked our park very much but the only thing that hold you back to not vote on it was because you find it wrong that the theme war is wrong to use in a game but you are playing shooters where you kill far more realistic people through shooting them through there head and seeing blood all flying around and that is ok? I have never had any problems with your posts or whatso ever but this is just a ridiculous reaction.

I have demonstrated in real life against the war and I have signed douzends of petitions on the internet but to connect the theme war in games with war in real life is just ridiculous.

    About the parks:
    Art of War
I liked all the new ideas that this park has. This will defiantly a park to remember because it has a lot of inovation and things that have never seen before. Of course there where also some things that weren't that nice.

    World Showcase:
It wasn't a bad park imo. It has a great idea behind it but it is used a lot of times before. And to be honest i can't say that this is the best exucition I have seen. I didn't liked the fireworkshow but that could be just me. I have never been a fan of those because it irritates when you open it for a second time.

I can not vote but I would have voted for the elementists.

I hope everyone can understand my choice of park. It isn't a that long revieuw but it is going to take me ouhrs to write a good one in english so don't jump on my revieuw everyone :D

^actually Gwazi couldnt vote anyway as he is on the Hurricane's team.

It still is a stupid reason to dislike a park.
  • Kumba%s's Photo
Great match-up. I think both parks are pretty even overall and was surprised to see us with such a big lead. AoW's hacks are some of the best I have ever seen with the cannon balls, bomb drops and peep friendly round station (which is not a 'perfect' hack as in real life they load while moving ;) ) which I loved seeing. I liked that large castle and most of the park, great work Elementalists. Our park is pretty cool too, just not quite as in your face. It's got the details, but they are more subtle. Good job guys and way to build fast! :)

So is the next match going to be posted soon, or not until this one is locked?

^Theres a few more days on this one...

    This debate's really entertaining.

Although, really, Im getting sick about people on the two teams bitching about each others parks. They have their own merits and shortcomings. Can't we just accept that? Really? In the end, it's a game...

Levis: Seriously? Read mifune's quote from you... Oh, and did you really have to insult our team itself now? C'mon... Everyone worked as hard as anyone on your team, and its not really fair to say we don't play, we "work." If that were true, would we be doing H2H? No. We all enjoy the game. Just because we have different values over the game doesn't mean it's okay to attack us...

About the parks, I'm surprised the vote's this far. I really liked AoW, as well as WSC. However, I agree w/ most comments in here, especially Turtle's and WME's. However, congrats on getting a great finished park in...

you know what, nevermind. people are getting on my ass over what i stated was my opinion. Evil WME, i didn't go pro-my-team or rip into their park, i was just stating my opinion. when is that so wrong? ivo, you clearly didn't undestand that i really like Art of War and appreciate it for what it is. there was just this feeling about it- this essence- that didn't feel quite 'right'.

here, i edited my first post to more clearly state how i felt about their park. now hopefully you will realize that i wasn't attacking their park and that i was simply trying to express a small opinion about one section of it that kinda ruined (though that's too strong of a word) the rest of it for me, like zburns said.
