The year Edward Snowden leaked critical info from the NSA, Avicii brought out 'Wake Me Up' and of course Prince Filip became King Philip the first of Belgium!
For Lembeek, 2013 was a year that mostly saw important maintenance happen to the park.
First things first, our kiddie coaster 'Keverbaan' has sadly been scrapped. An icon of the park, and very much an opening day attraction, it was deemed life expired and no longer fit for purpose. It will be missed greatly.
Our ride manager Bart Berenpoot has not made himself popular with the fans of park with this decision. Especially since reasons that will be mentioned below. However, he has proven to both Catherine and her daughter Julia that just like his predecessor Carolus he knows how to haggle and spot bargains. From a theme park in France that needed to downscale, he managed to pick up a new flat ride that has been added in the 'Land of the Cold' area. Named 'Scandinavian Shuffle', it adds some movement to the area.
Lastly, Julia is proving to her mother that she as well is a valuable member of the team. Being the younger generation, she is heavily involved in the digital aspect. She reads up on forums, reviews and podcasts regarding theme parks to see what the general opinions are of the park, and if any adjustments are needed. In recent years, it has been mentioned that our wooden coaster Splinter has become rather uncomfortable. The guest satisfaction regarding this ride from surveys taken from guests also gave this impression. So this year, the decision was taken to retrack the worst parts of the ride, in order to improve the comfort of this well-loved Lembeek classic.
Something else that has come up in guest surveys and on the relevant forums, is the fact that has been a long time since some big new thrill ride opened in Lembeek. The park has been very busy expanding on all levels. Both in the zoo area, theme park, accomodation and water park. But the last new coaster is already more than 10 years ago.... That is something our guests have noticed as well and one of the reasons fans were not happy with the removal of the Keverbaan. Time to do something about that!

LEMBEEK ANNOUNCES NEW COASTER FOR 2015 SEASON.
Something that was very clear on all news sites. Yes, Lembeek is fianlly going to add a new, modern rollercoaster to its portfolio. A decision that was received with great rejoice by the theme park community.
But there sadly ends the good news. In order to fill in the lack of large thrill rides, Bart Berenpoot came up with the plan to add in a drop tower in the Adventure Area, right in front of Tomb of Terror. However, when these planes reached the neighbours, there was immediate backlash. They feared the ride would hamper their sight and create too much noise. Eventually the city council had to step in and sadly, the neighbours won. No drop tower for Lembeek in this area.
2014 is also the year that Catherine's father and Julia's grandfather, founder of Lembeekse Woud Francis Lejeune passed away. While not being the head of the park for some years now, he still had an advisory function and was the head of the 'Lejeune Trust', that supported the zoo activities and wildlife preservation al over the world. Catherine had vowed to continue this work, and he will not be forgotten.
When 2015 drops with the new coaster, I'll add another save of the park, in order to share the progress.
After a long time waiting, and promised a year beforehand, Lembeek can finally open its brand new rollercoaster 'Tornado'.
Made by Maurer, the park management decided to choose a coaster type that the whole family can enjoy but still provide an interesting and thrilling ride if needed. 'Not one ride is the same!' Julia declared after a few rides. Sproetel Soda representative Dirk Dwaas was found in the nearby bathroom vomiting his guts out after his ride. 'Rollercoasters are not for me' he declared dryly afterwards. Though some whispers mention this might also be caused by the fact he decided to try out one of Sproetel's new fried soda concepts. Something Lembeek has mentioned to their business partner they'll 'think about it for some time' before adding to the park menu...
Our ride manager Bart Berenpoot is overjoyed with the addition. 'Working with Maurer was fantastic. We managed to create something brilliant here'. He also loved the location of the ride, right in front of the park entrance and so creating a visual spectacle for the entering guests.
in 2015, Lembeek celebrates its 35th Birthday. In honor of that, we look back through the years at the development of our little park, and an insight in the present. Attached you can find 4 versions of the park throughout the years.
Called it! Good investment but the name is a bit lame, very uninspired compared to previous names in this story.

Curious for the new coaster, fuck the neighbours.

Enjoy!
Got some serieus Dizz/Naga Bay vibes here, not sure if that's a good thing... Decent new coaster, but I did expect something bigger tbh.
