Impressive - dang! So much here it's hard to believe. First up, I think the Huanglong station and queue are solid. Nice adventure queue with the waterfall - and the blue rooftops are a great pop of color. The coaster itself is so well integrated and interacts with the landscape flawlessly.
The rapids queue and station is unique for sure. Wish it had more peeps.. seems very empty compared to the rest of the map. But still, it's a wonderful ride tucked into everything else.
What's great about this entry compared to earlier entries like mine is how each viewing angle shows more to see and explore. Flying Dream with the cascading waterfalls underneath in particular is a highlight.
Fantastically put together, great job dude! Not necessarily accurate to the theme, but I'll give you a pass because it looks cool. Roto drop and graveyard monument is a good combo, the blue in general looks good. The red slightly less, especiallty as it blends with the red fences. Coaster has good interaction with rapids. Some nice technical tricks are the awnings hanging from path supports (with invisible path), the entire lantern cable and support technique, and the steep diagonal mine train for vertical supports. It's very good overall!
Really nice entry, Mulpje, super atmospheric and classical feeling in its setting and theme. The landscaping is enticing and lush, and there are a number of touches in the architecture that free it from the tropey "Asian" choices that are easy to fall into. The benches for the supports of the rapids station are a wonderful small innovation that pays off, love seeing subtle moments such as that. Another example being the hat stand as a base for the top spin. The coaster gets some nice mileage, for instance the wrapping of the rapids station and the final corkscrew and turnaround. The splitting of the architecture into 3 fairly distinct styles is interesting but muddies the overall impression of the map a bit. Each one is done very nicely however (the red/peach is perhaps my favourite).
This entry is really skillfully done. This is probably some of the best NCSO I've seen, or at least really up there. Loads of great building techniques and the macro is also great putting a lot of focus on the layout which has great colors. My biggest critique is probably the lack of music which is pretty minor, but I do wish it was there. The raft and twist stations really stand out to me as the strongest bits. Very strong overall! It is an 80 for me!
I like it. Some nice tricks with objects that others have already pointed out. I like the general atmosphere it gives off. I do have one rather big criticism which is that it doesn't seem to offer much other than what's in the overview. For that reason, I would give it a 75.
-Concept: *
We've seen so many Chinese concepts throughout the history of NE, that it's not that original anymore. You did do some interesting thematic concepts though, such as the Torii Gate, going from the red to blue area (transition from the mundane to the sacred?)
-Content: **
Quite some content in the form of supporting rides, which were really well done, and the terraforming, landscaping and creative NCSO architecture.
-Quality: ***
Consistent high quality throughout, where especially the trackitecture gave the whole an unique touch.
Overall;
I felt the whole piece was well balanced, with some more detailed bits being surrounded by some more natural bits. Especially admire the inventive way you've used NCSO objects and trackitecture/shopitecture to create buildings with.
I wish you've included some music though, even the Oriental theme would've done the job..
The way how you've created all the content around the coaster is what makes this park stand out though. So many interesting interactive moments of the coaster with the landscape and architecture!
NCSO of the highest degree. This feels groundbreaking in a different way than Leafy Lake does, relying on a more traditional feel while utilizing a bunch of new tricks I haven't seen in many (if any) other parks. While Leafy Lake sought out a more realistic and modern aesthetic using lots of expansion scenery and ride vehicle tricks, this feels like a near-perfect classic NCSO park.
+ Macro serves the coaster so well. Yellow on natural colors is classic, and the little pops of color in each area (also a very classic trick) are subtle enough to not take away from it.
+ You've pulled out almost every architectural trick in the book! Entrances, exits, stalls, track, even benches somehow! You've found ways to make trackitecture and stalls feel seamless together. Yangtzee Adventure's station is breaking my brain with the bench walls and the insanely round trackitecture. The blue roto-drop vehicle on top of Jerking Soda is a really nice way to work that roof color into an otherwise uncolorable top piece. Clipping the bell tower into a wall is also a really nice subtle trick.
+ Incredible supporting rides, all using some really great NCSO tricks. Flying Dream's custom track and supports, the chairlift piece underneath Kite Dancer, and hat stalls for sloped flooring underneath Splash Spinner are such good details.
+ Space garbage cans as hanging lanterns is genius.
+ Absolutely love the hidden mountain village at the back of the map. Great way to justify that "backside" of the layout that usually wouldn't be peep-facing or have any crazy interactions.
- All this and you couldn't put ice under your waterfalls? I know it looks weird with the transparent rapids track, but that's like the oldest trick in the book and the waterfalls feel naked without it. It's possible to angle the land and finagle with the TI so the rapids piece has ice edges.
- Some transparent flowers I think would have rounded out some of the foliage.
- Absolutely needed Oriental Style.
+++++ The soda shop is called Jerking Soda. This wins.
One of my favorites of the contest. Just a ton of skill on display here. Expert landscaping, framing and composition made this a great map to view. Little bits of archy were all very well done and super strong. Not the most unique theme ever but it didn't bother me, it was done super well and yeah just all around so well made.
80% for me
This is an awesome entry and really loved the feel this represented. The design and surrounding area was the star of the show and it pulled my eye straight to it. The support work could have been a bit refined though. That said, I loved the queue interaction with the layout, and the water feature by the dive loop was gorgeous.
Overall, really enjoyed it and congrats on the Design.
