What a lovely Christmas release. You left 14 years ago after dropping Canyoneer, and Creag Mhòr picks up right where you left off, with a heavy focus on the natural environment. However, the less serious side from Zippo’s is also present, and I can tell how you recycled certain (Scottish) elements from that park as well, as well as the castle screens you posted in the AD back then. Creag Mhòr is a summary of your NE career.

The map instantly draws me in with the sound design. Music complements the architecture to establish a strong sense of place. First thing I did is actually follow the river instead of going into the park, and the sound of the water was so soothing! I heard a distant waterfall so I went to look for it, and there it was! And I followed up the waterfalls, and came across the remote part of Ghillie Dhu - what a spectacular setting for a coaster. The entire coaster is 10/10. The setting, the layout, but also the station and queue area and interactions with the launch. Absolutely fantastic work.

I’m not going to describe everything that I see and like right now, I hope to do that in a later review (I have yet to write my Zippo’s review, fifteen years later, oops). For now: fantastic work on all aspects here. Sound, sense of place, landscaping, architecture, rides, and fun detailing and storytelling. Welcome back, for real now!

Really enjoyed the park! So cool to see your style of parkmaking with all the new objects and features of the game. Everything is super cute and well-fitting; it just feels really good, especially with the custom music as you explore each area. The macro is top-notch as well, and definitely a huge improvement from your past work! Really enjoyed taking in the vibe zoomed out and exploring around the landscape.

Overall it was a great viewing experience. You have a unique style and it's very refined in this park. Glad you are back on NE!

Man much to love on this park. The landscape and foliage is the main highlight here, you already showed you mastered that with Canyoneer and this is taking that up a notch. I loved to wander around that forest, the added nature sounds add so much and make it almost seem real.

The uniform architecture was a strong aspect of this map and helped a lot to make this place feel real and believable. I like the selection of rides and how subtle they were implemented in their environment. All with a great respect to the domain.

The Ghillie Dhu coaster was my favorite, love the Helix/Toutatis mash-up and it flows really well. Loved the colors on it as well, many people would suggest against all green colors but I like it a lot and I'm glad you went for it.

Really liked this park, loved to see a map this big mainly filled with forest. Outskirts really were great, this whole map feels like I could just walk into it. Wish this was a real place.

Damn, you've not lost it at all have you - this is spectacular. Congratulations!

What a great NE Christmas present to open this morning.  Your eye for natural landscaping is truly a gift and some of the best I have seen.  I especially love the shoreline along the river and waterfalls.  I'm going to study how you did the waterfalls so I can "try" and incorporate them in Phoenix.  Everything just works together in a peaceful country setting.  The park for me is almost the supporting piece to the rest of the outside park goodness.  So glad you are back in action.  Its like you never left.  Well done!

Incredible, stunning, gorgeous, I'm in love

Top tier landscaping, your eye for subtle detail without ever feeling overdone is next level. Sound design is some of the best I've experienced. The entrance lot into village plaza is unbelievably immersive, I was hooked instantly. Everything is so rich in color, texture, detail, life without losing any legibility. It's all so believable

I had just as much enjoyment exploring the natural surroundings as the park itself. Exceptional release, thank you for it, I would love to create something together someday

In a broader context, seeing another old school player return and capably acclimate to new tools while maintaining the same underlying style as previous work is incredibly satisfying, though I can't help but imagine what types of things we would see from lost members in today's game

I wonder if it would even be possible to track down former members and stage a reunion, I would pay real human money for a "master's showcase" just to see what RRP, Coaster Ed, Mala, sloB, 5dave, and so many others could do with modern RCT

Between the landscaping, composition, and overall immersion, this map is fantastic and has such an overwhelmingly pleasant and happy vibe.  I really loved the terrain RMC here and all of the architecture.  Your attention to detail with how the architecture would be viewable for guests is also awesome as I kept picturing myself in some of these beautiful spaces.  The riverbeds are fantastic and definitely will be coming back to that as I've always wondered how to get that "rocky" look you'd see in a park like this.

    Fantastic!

    Gorgeous. That's an absolute belter

    Loved all the little details

I absolutely adore this. It takes so much confidence to have so much "empty" space on a map and it's all executed so elegantly.

Can't wait to revisit this map again and again. Congrats Xophe!

This is such a delightful release! So unique and whimsical. I can't wait to download this and see it in game. Congrats on the release!

Dang! Really cool release! The atmosphere of this park is top notch. The little details in the farm lands, the logging workers, and the radio tower add a really great feel to this park. The sound design in this is also just top notch. The water sounds, the birds chirping, and the park music just work perfectly. I also want to point out how amazing your use of space was in this project. Everything has room to breath in this park and all of the big features are highlighted very well.

Landscaping and Foliage: I'll start with the foliage. I love the open space that you allowed for throughout the park. I think it would have benefited from just having some deviations in the trees for more natural little meadows and stuff. I also think it would have been nice if you had used the trees to frame the elevation changes a bit better. The trees also looked spammed in most of the park. There are a few areas like this one which just look amazing

Then there are other areas where it looks like you just spam placed trees down. I also found the variation of trees kind of weird. Like there is massive sections of just one tree type which might be true in nature but looks weird in game IMO.

The landscaping was probably my least favorite part of the park. I like that you used default landscaping and those Tols rock objects instead of more conventional objects. My issue is that most of landscaping is very jarring and looks unnatural. The transitions from different land textures where very abrupt and I also wish there was something to break up the long cliff walls that you have all over the park. I would like to highlight your work on the riverbed rocks though. This is absolutely top notch.

Architecture: The buildings were well constructed for the most part. The forms were really good throughout the entire entry no matter what building we are talking about. The object selection was really great and all of the structures really worked well. Some of the buildings did feel like they were missing that final level of detail but overall I have no complaints. This log flume building was my favorite on the map (closely beating the castle looking buildings)

    Attached Image: Capture2.PNG

Everything Else: The best part of this park IMO is the macro, ride interaction, and path work. Everything is layed out really well. I love the janky dirt path connection by the castle. I love the path interaction of literally all of the major rides. All of the ride layouts seem really fun. That triple launch coaster is framed brilliantly over top of the waterfall. The macro work throughout really lifts this park up a lot for me.

Overall: You should be really proud of this park and I am very happy that I checked it out! I rated this 80%

A park full of character and love. What a blessing you should have returned to the community Xophe. Your organic style and euro-realism from over a decade ago hasn't aged one bit. If anything its reincarnation with modern OpenRCT2 is something that I consider tremendously healthy to the community, and that I hope we'll get to see more of. The moment near the tent with dog was so wholesome. When a creator's kindness transcends through the RCT it just adds something so special. Made me think of MTC.

    Big congrats on this release.

First of all, congratulations on the score. I didn’t want to post my review yet until the score was official.

Naturalistic, effortless, picturesque, and atmospheric. Words used to describe your park, and I’ll reiterate them here again. As others have said, it’s lovely to see you return to RCT and pick up the newfound standards for detailing so easily. I must admit that prior to your homecoming, I wasn’t familiar with your work. But I am somewhat familiar with the older methods to how parks were built, and this looks as forward-thinking as any of the nature-focused works we’ve seen in recent times. That alone is worth so much praise.

This park was a joy to explore. The sound design is top notch, and I cannot recommend people enough to view this park in-game. It’s immersive, and makes the viewer feel like a guest at this resort. Especially as you move back towards the forest. Everything works well together to create that experience - terraforming, terrain coasters, music, and sound design.

My favorite coaster is by far Ghillie Dhu. It looks so incredible from multiple angles, though my favorite is probably with the waterfall facing the viewer. Gives you a real sense of verticality, and how easily you built the coaster into the terrain. This one’s a 10/10.

I hate to agree with BarNID, but have to with regards to some of the foliage towards the back. I always try to avoid using the same tree type too many times, too close together, when making forests. It’s another example of real life not translating well into, “here’s how it looks in-game.” That being said, when the foliage is a focus point, such as the open spaces and how it’s nestled up against those spaces…I don’t think it’s been done better.

My other critique is with the RMC, Bootleger. Typically RMCs are known for their steep first drops (unless they begin with an inversion). Doesn’t have to be Wildfire high, but just one piece of vertical track would have done wonders. At the same time, what you currently have serves as a more intermediate level coaster for the line-up.

The atmosphere you’ve got is on a similar level of quality to Babar (like the technique), but I think the warmth and charm you’ve achieved is unique to your style and voice.

Huge congrats to you for proving you're still Elite-level sixteen years after Zippo's! What a delightful park to return with, Lake Anachronism notwithstanding. It's very much in tune with the modern meta but still very quaint and not overwhelming.

The main street is adorable with a cozy feel and a teetering-on-small scale. Kelpie is a really great layout and that dual interaction over the path is iconic. I've never seen the air-powered cars used to represent the beams on the other end of a top spin before! Very novel. The Craigdenarroch house at the end of Kelpie's side hits a perfect blend of detailed and gritty yet small and quaint, the standard most of the archi in this park reaches.

Going to the other side of the park, the highlights are the castle with the garden maze, the backstage area and Ghillie Dhu. It is very funny to me that we have had two British NE legends go on an extended hiatus and return with a coaster named Ghillie Dhu in a mountainous setting with ruined churches. The angle where Ghillie Dhu interacts with the the waterfall is an all-timer. Phone wallpaper material. I'm also a huge fan of the bike hire! For some reason NE just knocks it out of the park with those. Patagon by Terry, Sonnental by the Dambusters, and now Creag Mhor joins the fray. Logjam is also very charming and the dripping water below the lift is very authentic.

I will say I have not been as excited to dig into and dissect the landscaping in any park since Salinity by FK years ago. Shades of a modern RRP. It's incomprehensibly dense and crunchy when needed yet not afraid to be completely open without as much as a sprig of grass, all with a very smooth and painterly quality. The open sections like the dirt road near the back especially get to shine due to the contrast with the dense forests. I am also smitten by the riverbanks. The sound design in this map really accentuates the level of effort and detail you've put into the landscape. It really does feel alive.

I will say the landscaping does falter near the back of the map, almost to a level where I question if it's properly finished. The "grain" of the Tolsimir rocks (as Liam puts it) fades into full-tile rocks and the foliage gets a little spammy. When zoomed all the way out it looks fantastic, but at a normal zoom it definitely pales compared to the other side of the map. I also feel like the level of custom supports in this park is inconsistent, although custom supports are the devil so I don't blame you for not supporting a few coasters.

I really did not have The Zippo's Guy Becomes One Of The Best Landscapers In The Game on my bingo card but I can't say I'm mad for it. We're so lucky to have you back and we hope you stay around!
