^ Wow, shit. That isn't funny in the slightest.
  • rctfreak2000%s's Photo

I threw a party tonight....a friend of mine from Italy (Umbria actually) made one of his world famous Tiramisu's.......on the top, in Mascarpone he inscribed......."Ding Dong the Witch is Dead".

All 50 of us laughed for hours.

You're a fucking bigot yourself, you know that?

The man did so much great work, such as helping to end communism in several countries, therefore liberating its peoples.

You really make me sick. It's pathetic that you would celebrate death. You really think that makes anyone want to support gay marriage more than they are now?

For someone who complains about being treated unfairly, you sure disrespect a lot of people yourself. Instead of being the bigger man about issues you find unfair, you act like a child.

Pathetic, truly pathetic. But you'll see... Judgement day will come and you will get to stand behind the sins you've willingly committed. Wonder how funny you'll find it then...

You're forgetting one thing freak (your name seems really appropriate now)

In order to GO TO HELL... I MUST FIRST BELIEVE THAT IT ACTUALLY EXISTS!!!

And....since you in fact have no physical evidence of such a place....you would do best to take my above comments as caddy bitchery, and keep your mouth closed...as you sound a drolling bore.

A biggot? I laugh at you! It always amuses me when neo-cons, and zealots get their panties in a wad when someone with a brain calls them on the carpet for their grievances....yet you think nothing of saying truly hateful and hurtful things like "Gays and Lesbians are the new ideology of evil"...or haven't you read JPII's latest book yet? I believe it is you who are pathetic for your narrow mindedness.

I must fight every day to "justify" my existence in a world, that due to the rantings of this (now deceased) lunatic and people like him, give authority to creatons LOOKING to justify hate through legislation, through harrasment and through violence.

Just something to think about. Can you think?...nevermind.

You made me laugh meretrix, thankyou.

The pope was old.. old people die. Just because hes to do with religion means every feels sad. Yes its sad hes dead, same as its sad when people die everyday.
  • Micool%s's Photo
Meretrix I agree with you on issues but that is not very funny. Regardless of whether you believe in hell or not it is a very hateful thing to do, and you know, I stand up for the gay community because of the unneccessary hate projected at it, but what you and your friends did was just as bad.

btw Freak you have a good heart but please shut up.
  • John%s's Photo
Freak, stop acting like a condescending asshole all the time.
You look like more a child than the ones you try to call out.

This was a good post until that bit about Judgement Day. What the fuck is this, Terminator 2?

Anyway, the point is: Meretrix is, indeed, terribly immature. Actually he makes me kind of want to hate gay people.

    I agree with Meretrix views.

When just about anyone dies, we tend to forget about the negative things and talk only about the positive. It's human nature to put a gloss on the lives of the deceased. So at this time the world talks about what a great man the Pope was and all the great things he did, but Meretrix has a point that there were many negative things about his tenure as well. I don't think it's wrong to talk about those at this time to. Anyone who is mad at the 'witch is dead' post has to understand that the Pope really espoused prejudice towards the gay community and although John Paul was loved and adored by many and reached out to many, he chose to alienate and castigate gays and lesbians as evil sinners. I feel strongly that this should be as much a part of his legacy as the positives and he should be criticized for these actions and 'Trix has every right to lash out a bit when all you'll see on TV for the next few weeks is how great the Pope was.

Bottom line for me is that John Paul was head of what I consider one of the most discriminatory organizations in the world. Just because he presented himself as a kind, gentle man, does not change the fact that he did nothing to correct this, but instead tried to entrench these discriminatory practices on the entire Catholic community. He was a great leader for the Catholic Church, but I would question how great a man he was.
  • Jellybones%s's Photo
I understand, man. I too believe the Catholic Church to be a big fucking joke. That said, I still don't think it mature to go off and celebrate someone's death. Yeah, I think the Pope was a massive idiot as well. And I was pissed that all this TV coverage for his death pre-empted the Major League Soccer opener on ABC. But I still think it's a horrible thing to celebrate his death. He did do some good things, there's no doubt about that. But I still think it's a pretty bad thing to celebrate someone's death in a childish manner as Trixie has done. Personally, I heard the Pope died, thought to myself "Well ain't that a bitch" and went about my daily life again, albiet without the DC United-Chivas game I was looking forward to seeing.

    I just don't like Trixie cause' he's a faggot. :)

Ass....I didn't throw the party because he died.
  • Corkscrewed%s's Photo
To be honest, I kinda find your posting that to be disrepectful, since it seems like you were throwing a party to celebrate his death. Personally, I consider his stance on homosexuality to be but a flaw among a sea of goods, so I'd rather you make your own thread about it rather than post it in this one.

It sounds like (and perhaps you can clarify) that you dislike the pope for his policies against gays, but that's a reflection of the Catholic Church in general, so your problem should be more towards the Church. You're not going to get a liberal pope open to gay marriage etc... etc... anytime soon, anyway.

I just think he did far too much good and was way too honorable of a man to strongly dislike for one reason.

EDIT: Just noticed your reply to Spoon. You came off as celebrating his death in that first post.
  • Meretrix%s's Photo
No Corky, perhaps I should've clarified. My party had been planned for six weeks. A housewarming. The fact that my friend wrote what he did on the Tiramisu was something unplanned, and frankly struck me as funny. I never wish anyone dead..I also don't care what he or any other biggot thinks of me personally, and I would never say that a person doesn't have the right to free speech or their own opinions......BUT....there is a little thing in the First Amendment called Reckless Endangerment....it is the reason that you can be arrested for screaming "FIRE" in a crowded movie theater if there is no fire....When YOUR speech directly affects another's well being or safety...then that other's right to exist safely supercedes your right to scream "FIRE".
Many things that the Pope said were awful and hateful things....things that fueled the fire in a climate that is rife with tension. It gives those who are blind followers a kind of "authority" to act maliciously towards those considered "evil", be it through heinous legislation, verbal harassment, or physical violence. Many people are LOOKING for that reason to hate....and on too many occassions the pope..and nay, many other "leaders" in organized religion have thrown out words that provided that "permission" if you will. It provokes a kind of "burn the witch" group mentality. I will not sit idly by and allow that kind of behavior to go unnoticed, or unspoken of. Call that immature, call that selfish, whatever, I'll deal.

To pose this dilema another way.........Would you praise, upon their death, a person who did numerous good deeds for society, even if one time they had caused the violent death of another in a pre-meditated fashion, either through their words or their actions? I bet ya wouldn't.

Some of you guys saved me a lot of writing, especially Meretrix.
rctfreak, the sin is in the eye of the beholder. Some of you will follow religion so blindly you become the sinners.
  • rctfreak2000%s's Photo
Disney Freak, you don't even know half of my personal convictions, so seriously, don't tell me whether or not I follow faith with my eyes closed... That's just as ignorant as you accuse me of being.

Meretrix, you can call me a biggot or whatever you damn well please, but for someone who fights against people every single day for equal rights and no prejudice, you're certainly willing to dish it right out. All true Christian faiths denounce homosexuality. Deal with it. Don't try to become a member of their church. Christianity tends to dominate the beliefs of some politicians, so I can understand why you hate it so much since it affects you. This by no means gives you the right to be such a hateful person yourself though. So you disliked the man, but overlooking all the good he did is just wrong.

Sure, he might have condemned things that maybe shouldn't have, but if you think the bad outweighs the good in this man's life, then I guess we'll have to respectfully disagree with each other. Just don't be an ass in the way you speak of his death.

Doesn't make you look like the better man at all.
  • Meretrix%s's Photo
How is me calling the pope on his words hateful?

Whatever, it's not like you and I have ever agreed on anything anyway. Why start now?

And for the record.....I only dish out what I receive...so please do think about that...or don't, it makes no difference to me.

I'm done arguing here. I've said all I want to on the subject.

I don't really agree with a lot of things the Catholic Church does, like having a Pope. I seriously believe that people idolize him. It's disturbing. I like how in the Methodist Church, pastors rotate between churches so the congregation does not come to church just because of the pastor. It's a good system in my opinion, though pretty unfavorable if you're the child of a pastor.

To me it is kind of sad what they have twisted Christianity into. Before Easter I heard they have a "Saint Victoria" or something who is said to have wiped the face of Jesus when he was carrying the cross, and the blood on the towel (or whatever) looked like Jesus' face. I mean, honestly. They made that up after Jesus died. Good thinking, eh. :| It really irritates me how the Catholic Church spends money on lots of lavish, needless things.

Jelly: Pre-empted MLS soccer, that's a good one. Watch some real soccer. :p

Well you know Trix, we may not have agreed with him on everything, but he was a smart man.
