Just got a Big Muff guitar pedal. It's just awesome. It's just like Black Sabbath sound.

Big muffs go well with Fenders, particularly Twin Reverbs, but of course that's probably not the amp you're using. Anyway...

Ignore all the snobbery. Fenders are great instruments, Ernie Ball Slinky's are fine strings, I play 9-42s (super slinky) and they sound great... Learn how to properly stretch your strings and life gets so much easier. If you're breaking strings a lot with a strat you should probably tighten the bridge claw up and possibly add another spring or two (they usually come with 3 installed, both of my strats have 4 or 5 respectively) in the back. Make sure the bridge sits flush with the body, etc:

When restringing be sure to "clean out" the bridge, nut, and tuners... The old strings can leave tiny bits of metal that will grind your new strings to death in a matter of only a few dozen playing hours (couple weeks for me). If you clean them out properly, set up the instrument right, and don't abuse the whammy bar too much strings should last 3-4 months (at least) or until you get sick of them sounding dead (which starts to happen after about six weeks), whichever happens first.

Good luck with the guitar though, it's definitely one of the best guitars on the market for it's price (for anything but hardcorez metalz!!!!!11!! but even then; it just takes some Seymour Duncan hotrails to get that ballsy tone).

Well, I've replaced the strings a long time ago now. Fender strings, gauge 10 I think. I also have a Marshall MG30DFX amp. The distortion wasn't too great so I bought a Big Muff guitar pedal. Now it's just awesome. It worths the 100$ definitely.

That amp is the weakest point in your set up right now; far and away. Marshall MG series are simply awful. Based on the rest of your set up (and your avatar) you like Pink Floyd?

Gilmour is a big user of Fender amps; though he also used many other brands over the years (Hiwatt make's a Gilmour Signature, but they cost 3,000+ USD). Something like a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, Traynor YCV40, or Vox AC15 would be a significant upgrade tonally. But if you're not in a band or doing recordings you intend to release it'd do you best to bide you're time until you can afford an AC30, Twin Reverb, or the like (2 X 12, tube amps, ~1,000 USD).

For the first couple years I played I didn't really believe in the "tube difference", but now I REALLY REALLY do. It's worth the extra time, money, and maintenance to sound your best: even if you and all the other experienced guitarists in the room are the only ones who can tell...

time for a nerd out.
there are 9 guitars in my house ATM. 4 electrics, 3 acoustics, and 2 Bass'
heres the dwelling... my recording studio on the floor... if you can see, just next to the piano is a smashed guitar, i swear it wasnt me.

pedal, gives lots of feedback (regardless of where you are ) a good thing in my book. or, on the otherhand gives a very nice fuzz alternative.

right the 'tars. sunburst fender-shaped thing. the neck is the nicest ive ever felt.
solid black, no scratch plate, 2 single coils, and one humbucker. floating tremello. the neck is heavenly.

les paul look-a-like. fail. someone dropped this and damaged it and wont own up to it. it has a fat chip in the body. it has masking tape around the whole thing to ... mask it. dual plate pickups... i cant remember what theyre called. decent hardware, the channel switch has somehow morphed into a killswitch when it got the chip, so its internally damaged too. the neck is atrocious. i cut my finger on a frett once.

unless you havnt guessed im immensly musical.

that's one long bass drum!

Not really. It's a 20 in. x 22 in. (width x length) bass drum. It actually looks smaller in person. lol. But it packs a lot of boom and kick, so I love it.
