Do you guys not feel like the Call of duty series has become the halloween or friday 13th film series? -

lol, i see where you're coming from.
i only play for the multiplayer anymore. and i play it an awful fucking lot so i definitely know what I'm on about when i talk about it. -

^^ Oh, get off it. Not every game needs to be about "look, Mom, I got me so much skillzzzzzz". COD's draw lies in it being really easy to pick up and play. It's a casual game.
Might rent this to play the campaign through, but doubt I'll buy it. MW2 and Black Ops both really disappointed me in multiplayer. (Too much flashy guns and kit, not enough care put into the underlying spawn system. Casual game or not, I should not spawn *on top* of an enemy.)

You're kidding right? MW2 campaign was one of the worst I have ever played. Sure it had action but it just went for shock value.but i do know the latter was a fantastic campaign in my eyes.
There was no storyline to speak of... WHY did that guy kill you and push you in the marsh? At no point in the story does it give him a motive. WHY did the space station blow up when there's not atmosphere in space to propagate the shock wave. WHY did they remove dedicated servers from the PC and rely on the god awful matching system?
MW2 effectively killed the series for me. -

you don't like any game
first you're saying tf2 is pray and spray now cod?
Too used to ET(QW)
Also, comparing the weapon spread in MW and MW2 to, say, COD2, it's gotten pretty bad. -

A few things you guys should think about before you continue to comment and bicker. First off, stop comparing Black Ops to MW2. If you want to compare any game to Black Ops it should be World at War. Black Ops has a solid online experience in comparison to World at War, as does Modern Warfare 2 in comparison to COD4. As for MW3, the multiplayer will be assisted by Raven Software and Sledgehammer Games, so we can all expect something a bit different than previous MW games in the series. Both Treyarch and Infinity Ward have created weapons in the online community that are considered spray cannons, but if you use them you're a noob. If you cannot take out players such as those, you're also a noob. Bitching about those players wont get you far. Find new ways to take out those scrubs such as using single fire weapons such as the FAL and the G3. These are much more powerful and only take about 2-4 shots. -

Raven Software's doing the multiplayer? Oh, that's good. So far, they've only killed the online modes of Jedi Knight, Quake and Wolfenstein, surely this one will be better. :B -

If Cod4 didn't have All Ghillied Up and Mile High Club, the campaign would be mediocre at best.
MW2 had the best online play. Black Ops had the worst imo (besides sticks and stones). -

you're right, except it's clear that mw2 was the worst and bo was the most 'balanced'. mw2 was unfinished and much more frustrating to play. spawn and die by a predator missile before you even know it. the one man army perk was bullshit. it was fun at times but extremely unbalanced and rushed. some good ideas but they weren't executed very well. oh and the maps are shit compared to treyarch's maps. sure there are a few good ones, but treyarch really has the map design down. black ops is much more balanced and easier to take in. there is a counter to every perk, every killstreak, and everything else. other than the fact that the graphics are slightly below mw2, gameplay wise there really isn't much to complain about in black ops multiplayer. -

Eh, the thing I love about the MW franchise is the extreme over-the-top feel given off by the games. It's like if Indy Jones or PotC were an actual game; it's crazy, it's awesome, it's the most realistic, fantastical story you could ever think of. -

Maybe I've just been terribly unlucky, but I consistently get worse spawns in Black Ops than MW2. Mostly the fact that killstreak rewards don't add on to each other really hurts its multiplayer for me. I know some people like that but it kills half the strategy in picking them. Supposedly it gives it more balance, but in MW2 it's easy to shoot down things like harriers, etc. if players would actually do it. I found the maps on MW2 to be much more memorable in general than Black Ops's. Then there's the money feature and all the other little things that add basically nothing but confusion to the game. -

The campaign in MW2 was incoherent, jumped around and made no sense.

wait/which Jedi Knight?
Though Black Ops does have its strong points, like the hilarious quotes in Zombie mode. *SPOILER ALERT* Though that one map-Call of the Dead I think it was-made absolutely no sense-but Danny Trejo whacking zombies with dual machetes is just badass.
And the weapon availability in some of the games just makes no chronological sense.
Black Ops is the best in the series I've played so far.
Oh wait, this thread is about MW3? -

Just finished watching xbox360 coverage from E3 and they kicked it off with a 10 minute gameplay clip of MW3. Looks pretty amazing IMO.

A second demo was released just moments ago and looks far better than the first. If this is how they have recreated New York City, I cannot wait to see what they have done for Europe.

Sorry for a bit of a bump, but a quick update on MW3 after watching about 5 videos on youtube. Instead of Treyarch's Zombies, IF is stepping it up a notch with 'Survival Mode.' Its similar to some spec ops missions from MW2 where you fight off waves of hostiles. However, it adds killstreaks and other purchasable reinforcements such as extra troops to support you. Plus, its fully co-op, meaning up to 4 players can play together. Im not sure if its online or offline, this would detirmine if you had to play on the same console or not. It looks very fun, and better than zombies imo, as I was never a fan of that game mode.

Yeah, zombies has never been too fun for me. That being said, I probably won't play too much spec ops in MW3. Multiplayer has always been my thing, so I'll probably be on that a lot and I may just invest in Call Of Duty Elite too because all of the map packs are free with the paid premium membership.
