And what's wrong with Societies? Na, seriously though, it did have a lot of flaws. It's still one of my favourites, but had the potential so be so much better.4. SimCity (series) (except Societies)

just finished dishonored today. really amazing gameplay, and almost a decent story until the abrupt and stupid ending. anyone else play this yet?
I played through it not looking at the achievement list at all so I could play however I like without worrying about that sort of thing, but I now realize that it will probably be a minimum of three entirely new replays to get them. ah well, achievements don't really matter (as much as I like dishonored, I'm not playing it four times), although they are fun and I like the noise they make bleepbloop -

10. Super Mario 64 and the Mario Kart Series (can't decide)
9. Super Smash Bros. Series (SSB 64 is the best)
8. Gran Turismo 4
7. Rise of Nations
6. Team Fortress 2
5. Zoo Tycoon Series (Specifically 1 with CC, but 2 is also fun)
4. Civilization 3 (Especially with mods)
3. RCT (I will never consider RCT3 to be truly a Roller Coaster Tycoon game.)
2. Simcity 4 (Some of the things I've seen in SC4 are more amazing than anything that can be built in RCT2, so much CC!)
1. Big Rigs Over The Road Racing (You're Winner!)
0. Real Life, Go outside! (Actually, this game sucks for most of the world.) -

I've done a lot of thinking and replaying of my favorite games and it's boiled down to this
1. BioShock & BioShock Infinite & Fallout 3 & Kingdom Hearts 2
2. Skyrim & RCT2 & Kingdom Hearts & Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare & Call of Duty: World at War & Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Beyond that doesn't even matter. I love so many video games, but these ^ games are the ones I have enjoyed the most. -

Special mention to Neotokyo for being the only videogame to offer me adrenaline rushes on par with actually-being-shot-at in a round of paintball. It routinely scares the shit out of me. Not too many shooters these days when you really flinch when you get shot.
games I have spent a long time dicking around in and enjoy greatly
Far Cry 2
Infantry Online
Loopy Landscapes
DDR
Pokemon Blue (and to a lesser extent, Emerald)
Tropico 4
Team Fortress 2
Minecraft
I tend to ignore new releases and prefer games I can sink years into. Everything on the list above, I've played for at least three years running - exception for Tropico, but not a whole lot changed from 3 to 4. -

my bioshock infinite arrived today and goddamn its good. one of the most amazing and intriguing openings to any game, it really makes you feel part of the mystery and the way it reveals clues leaves me with so many ideas as to what is really going on. its just spectacular.
I've played for two hours, and I haven't even gotten to elizabeth /> I've been dawdling so much. it feels so alive, and the combat is really fun too. although I don't like how devil's kiss throws like a grenade, and the skylines are a bit confusing (at least at first).
one small detail that I thought was really awesome (and maybe not even intentional) happened really early on. (super minor spoilers) before the priest baptises you, he's giving a speech to a congregation and ending each line with "it would have been enough". I don't know if ken levine knows (surely he does?) but that is taken directly from an important part of the passover service. the amazing thing about this though, is that the first day of passover this year fell on march 26. the same day bioshock came out. it was really eery listening to that bit, I'll tell you.
my first impressions at least. looking to find its way easily in my top ten /> -

Yep, Bioshock Infinite is now right up there as one of my favorite games, and probably entertainment experiences, ever. Rapture set the bar for a vibrant world but Columbia raised it. Few games really create a unique experience of telling a truly moving as well as interactive story, but thankfully this franchise is showing how successful a medium it SHOULD be.
