Rivers of Babylon halfway done, as construction deadlines near.
Medina County, TX, August 01, 2003

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After facing long delays all summer due to litigation and financial woes, workers here in Texas have gone back to work, now working around the clock to finish the park before the original deadline, December 18, 2003. (In time for the scheduled private parties on Christmas Eve and New Years) The number of employees working on construction has doubled, and instead of two eight hour shifts per day, workers are now split among three shifts, working through the night under artificial lights. Returning workers faced new benefits from Snowbound Productions, including health benefits and new work incentives. Two of the park's four themed areas are now completed, following the completion of an additional roller-coaster in the Mayan themed area, bringing the park's track count to six. They arent letting us take many photos of the newly completed sections, as crews are still preparing the ride for it's first test. The park wont release any statistics from the ride, but they will say it was furnished by Vekoma, and that the ride is modelled after suspended roller coasters built in the past by Arrow Dynamics. A media photo they released is shown below.

The parks entrance section is facing sweeping renovations after creative consultants realized that former homosexual employees were involved with interior decorating in the area. Many of the buiding's exteriors will also be changed, as they were not built to the original specifications, homosexuality is not suspected in these changes, however. In the time I have been staying here, I have seen several very large trees torn down from the front area and simply removed from the park, only to be replaced by large palm trees imported from nearby Mexico.

Mexico may be closer than once thought, however, as construction in the Mayan Ruin-themed area nears completion. The late decision by management to go ahead and purchase the Vekoma ride was shown as the ride was constructed in a mad fury, taking only 6 weeks to build, note that it was built while most construction workers were striking. Many changes in the plans for the area were changed as a result, and work continues on some of the midway buildings around the new ride. I will post pictures of this area once it is totally completed, but for now, I have a picture of the previously completed section of Tulum, now more complete.

Seen in this picture, is a clothing shop next to the junior coaster in the area. The name of the store is "La Fogata," or, The Bonfire, in English. This name may be changing, however, as sweeping name changes come through the area. Spanish was first used in the naming of the rides in the area, however, all ride have now been re-named to reflect the Mayan theme. To the left hand side of the screenshot is a recently completed resturaunt in the Babylonian area, called "The Arboretum," where diners sit on tables underneath hanging gardens and lush foilage.

That's all I have to report for right now, but expect regular updates, as the pace of construction has really quickened out here. This is Melissa James reporting, from the future site of Rivers of Babylon, here in Medina County.

More screens coming later. I know you guys are going to say.. "what nothing new?" but... I dont want to reveal everything, after all. I dont like seeing posts where people show their best scenery and theming in their screenshots, its like a movie that has all the good parts in the preview. Since most of you have already seen the 30% completed park, I cant let you see everything that Im building now.

I can say the park is ~50% done and I expect rapid advancement, as I have somehow gotten back in the groove I was once in.

    Peace be with you.

    Screen #1

Here, i think it is very well done. The over whelming paths seems to be attractive for some reason. I see you really know what your doing when it comes to placement. The building style is also lovely. I like the random look of the canvas behind the building. The only thing i see wrong is the doors on the left side, that confused me. Other than that, this screen is wonderful.

    Screen #2

Again, very nice. I like the transistion from the first screen which appears more pathing surrounds and this one more tree/shrubbery. It really looks nice. I like the use of difference in structure (the brick around the little tower and the switch in the roof) I think it all ties in. Good job, not to say it wasnt good from the beginning. ;-)

I like it, of course, but I don't really see any diffrences between this one and the one you realesed. The thing about the gay guys was quite funny though.

Construction nears completion on the Vekoma suspended, first test runs expected soon. Shown here is the nearly completed station, complete with gift shop.

Construction has now completed on Eversio Atlantica, and we have managed to snag a photo of it's first test run, unfortunately, it was raining at the time, but everything went perfectly and crews are prepared to begin installing the elabroate theming in the morning. They say it could take months to theme this ride alone.

    Until next time....

    Peace be with you.

Nice pic of Collossus' Cobra Roll there SAC. :D

But anyway, the park is looking really nice. However, those trees (with the striped Trunks) don't really fit in.
I suggest using that "thin" looking one that rctfreak2000 uses alot in his parks.

    Great Job.

Erm... isn't that the Incredible Hulk Coaster?

Anyway, this park is looking great, and it's nice to see you inspired again. Keep up the great work, because the style is pure you/Schuessler, only more refined and detailed, which I love. I hope to see this park as Spotlight soon...

Looks excellent so far. In the screen with the dualing inverted ships I just love the exit paths for some reason. They just look so cool. I don't really know why though. The archy is awesome too.

    Rivers of Babylon Update -8-03-03-

The theming on the river rapids ride, Eden, has been completed for several weeks, with minor work continuing until recently, when the ride was test-run for the first time, and subsequent testing has continued throughout the weekend. The park is really coming to life now, with things falling together around every corner, workers are working faster than ever on this park. Upper management must be really concerned with meeting the deadline, but should they go as far to beat it by 2 months?

Heres a photo of the completed Eden queue...

Until the next time I feel like posting screens,

    Peace be with you.

Very, very nice. I am loving that last screen. My only suggestion is to do something with those trees with the dirt under it. Maybe hack some bushes under it. Good Job.

It's got a cool realistic station and everything!

Good tree combination and pretty buildings - excellent work :)
  • posix%s's Photo
    Well this is just awesomeness.
Good advertising. Nice screens that don't show too much and almost and just one has untouched squares. Interesting texts as well.
Then I'm a big SAC fan and how could I not love this? It's fantastic. Detailed, realistic, atmospheric, fitting the theme, awesomly arranged and just beautiful.
Don't open another thread about RoB by the way. Stick to this one.

    Um. Wow.

Right now this park is in a whole other ballpark. It's creating a new, orginal, and creative style, and its something that I'm looking foward to. It's a shame you had to release it but from what I've heard and seen it seems as if you've redone the entire park!

    Anyways...

I want to comment on this Eden ride.

I have to say that this themeing is some of the most intericate I've seen. It's really got that Eden-ish type feel. Don't stop using those green shrubs they are looking great and are an essential part of this theme.

Dammit I want to find something to comment on but there isn't anything!

Oh yeah. In the Mayan section don't over use the Pirate walls I just glimpsed them and I didn't like the look of them I don't think that it fits with the theme, really.

The park overall has a really nice feeling to it. Nothing I can place a name on or describe. So, yeah, nice park you've got here keep it coming.

You are the father of parkmaking as we know it.
