If people are constantly complaining about parks getting accolades too quickly, increase the amount of votes required as it is only 10. Plus that would increase the diversity in the voting range.

Anyhow, this park is incredible; it has everything we want: great ride design, atmosphere, ride interaction, great theming, heart, the right amount of detail, clean smooth landscaping, wonderful colour coordination, lots of flair and originality, and the list goes on.

An obvious spotlight, in my opinion. Congratulations.

Congrats man. I was torn between 75/80% so I decided to wait with voting for a while, but I guess it doesn't matter since it's already decided. Great park! I guess with two spotlights you can't deny you are player of the year.

Additionally, I'm sure that being such a hyped up park many of the panelists were already considering their vote in the community voting stage (I was not one of them).

    Well done, congratulations.

I feel like this would be problematic for parks that are of lower quality (bronze and silver) as I think it sometimes take quite long for these parks to get a score. (At some point there was even a thread to make sure these types of parks finally got scores). Therefore I think what you suggest would only work for parks that already had a lot of hype before they were released.

It seems like the Spotlight parks that have been released recently are not just of the high quality, but these players are branching into their own styles and/or reaching new levels of execution. That's the way I felt with this park. Sure we've seen western style parks built before, and they have been of high quality. For me, Knox Vegas would be a park comparable to Coors, as it was very well done and fully deserving of it's score and praise. But Shogo refined and elevated this style to another level of atmospheric and fresh.

Obviously you knocked the foliage out of the park here, it's just wonderful. It's very tough to make foliage thick and lush in some areas, leaving other portions completely bare, and some in between, but to make it look so real and believable. Very well done! None of it was overbearing, nor underwhelming. It blends so well it almost doesn't stand out in the park, but at the same time it does! Make sense? :p

Ride design was wonderful too, the coaster layouts were fantastic, while at the same time you managed to have them explore so much of the park. I thought the interaction with Mephisto and Black Forest Joyride was well executed. Beyond the coasters, you had some really nice custom rides, like the trampolines or tornado. But even smaller things, like the queues were very well done, making good use of angles, circular designs etc. I can see this blend of ideas making waiting in line for a ride quite enjoyable.

Your building designs were amazing, first of all in simply the architecture. You've got an eye and style that is so wonderful and unique to you! This has been showcased in your past work, but you seemed to hit a balance in detail and variety in Coors that shows your experience and maturity as a builder. All the smaller details, like planters, fences, lockers, rail crossings, tables, info kiosks etc, even the mixture of pathways and funky pathwork designs made Coors very warm and immersive.

For the record, since speed of voting is a hot topic in this thread, I downloaded this park as soon as it was released. I spent a considerable amount of time looking through the details of the park. I never thought for a second that this was nothing short of a Spotlight, so it was more a matter of picking the percentage, and I happily settled on 85%. Thanks for putting together such a wonderful piece of rct!

    Oh yes.

I have nothing to add really. Could this be the closest interval yet between two spotlights for the same player? Definitely very well deserved, this park is just fantastic, so well designed. Simply beautiful!

Congrats shotguns. Totally deserved. I'm so sorry I was too slow to vote. Perhaps upping to 15 again is something to consider.

The day you posted your first screen here I remember thinking how I felt you were different. You've matched the level of Blue Oak with a CSO sibling in very impressive fashion. To me your style is more refined than others, and simply more beautiful. You make design look easy and natural, which requires immense talent that you have well enough of.

My only critique may be that the park is somewhat over-inspired by the community trend and expectation held against "realistic style parks". The look and build that is expected of you you decided to serve, whereas I think you have enough in you to create your complete own, which would be more creative and truly interesting to see.

Huh? Im 99% certain i never actually voted in the panel and just rated it in the bottom bar. I would have voted yes as explained...

^ Or you pulled a "bsg" and miss clicked your spotlight vote? :D

Congratulations on the spotlight ! :)

I will say it now, my review will maybe sound harsh but I'm still your fan number one :

+ Fantastic archy. You're so talented for this, it looks so easy and like an evidence for you. I was truly impressed by Aegis' station and the buildings around, that's probably what impressed me the most. Worked so good together.

+ Park entrance. You always nail them. 3 months earlier with Blue Oak and now this one.

    - Foliage/Landscaping : it didn't work at all for me. The foliage had too much different tones and it didn't contrast very well. To be honest, and I'm sorry to say that, but for me it strongly participated to ruin the whole park. Landscaping felt off style for me, too much NCSO/LL compared to the overdetailed things on the map. It looked like blocks to fill the map.

    - Rides : for me there wasn't any interesting except for the custom round flat ride (brillant) and Aegis. I wasn't a fan of the colors either, particularly of the yellow coaster in the center of the park, felt a bit toxic for me. The LOTR rocks don't help.

    - Paths : 50/50 here, some parts were majestic, other parts more messy. I'm still not sure about the path choice.

    - Composition : too much rides with short amount of space between them, creating a suffocating atmosphere. I also felt some part of the parks were messy, reminding me of some of your older works, like Interstellar for example.

    I would rate this 70%.

It's maybe a question of taste, when you see this park is very well received. It still shows how much talented you are. RCT looks so easy for you. You're clearly one of the best players around and I thought you could have done something better, something that felt more natural, smooth and relaxing overall. I will never forget how great Blue Oak was, à 90%+ for me and had all of this.

To sum it up : foliage, landscaping, bad contrast overall and not enough space to breath were the negative points for me here.
    Archy is awesome.

I can't wait to see your next project, it looks so promising.

my trick to voting so quickly is i dont even download the parks

  • Cocoa%s's Photo

my trick is I've seen this park in a very finished state many times over the last month

not that surprising that many of us can vote so quickly :p

  • bigshootergill%s's Photo

Any chance you can whip together another Spotlight before year end? You've got 19 days! Get to work! :D

  • saxman1089%s's Photo

Have you seen his SOA screens? He's like almost done with that damn park already....

Anyway, it seems I'm not going to have time for a full review, but I owe you something here. I loved this park, and how refreshing it was from a American realism standpoint. It was like and yet unlike other parks of that genre. It definitely stands out among them, yet is also within them.

I also love how it made me feel looking at it. I feel like this could be a real park in Colorado somewhere. It felt mountainous and the foliage/landscaping was done perfectly for that region of the US.

I loved the custom peepable Himalaya ride (can't recall what its name is right now), that was pretty great. I tried to do one of those for like 5 hours the other day and it ended in a lot of blowing up cars and peeps....

This was a 90% from me, and definitely happy you got spotlight!

I don't think a park should get its score because of a hype created around it. The level of a park isn't dependable from the hype around it. A park should always be viewed without any prejudices.

Congrats on winning spotlight twice in a year. That's something to be proud of.

I was saying that the hype is what got people looking at it quickly, not what determined their votes. This park doesn't have the score of a park with votes decided by hype.

  • Xeccah%s's Photo

No, this isn't a hype vote. I'm awful at hyping my parks up anyway and I do find it disingenuous when people do that intentionally. You end up getting a higher score than you deserve that way.

I think my park got a fair score. I expected 85 and it to scrape by with a spotlight, and that's what it got. It's very fair to not think of this as a spotlight, as this really didn't further the NE meta any beyond "american realism parks don't need to be gray" and perhaps a lesson on restraint.

Getting a restrained, balance feel and composition were key to what I wanted to achieve from this park. Only thing I regret are the few things that my eyes overlooked, despite sitting on the park for a week before submitting.

  • dr dirt%s's Photo

I wouldn't see Coors building a park, but I guess it's not completely out of the question given the Busch parks.

That's the only thing I don't really like here, though.  First thing that hits me is how fresh the landscaping feels, I think it captures a climate/area that is very rarely done.  I'll have to look at this in game later on.

Which you shouldn't downplay, given their usual chronic grey obsession.
