First off hats off for the wild theme. So fun to see something so out of left field and I love the way the sugar landscape makes the same layout feel so different. This inhabited a similar space as Ge-Ride's entry for me; pushing rct in a different direction and exploring a completely different way to use the cel shaded objects. I do agree that some of those experiments were more successful than others. The castle is a gorgeous set piece where some of the other 'structures' felt more abstract. I guess that didn't bother me too much cause it did allow your eye for design and creative use of the candy theme to shine thru as a way to embellish the park, but I understand that may not be for everyone. Overall, I give huge props for the creativity and thinking outside the box, that is part of what makes NEDC so fun, seeing wacky ideas for the same layout. Also fun to see something so different from you! Congrats on the design!
I liked this entry quite a lot. It seems to do many things that my entry does better. Instead of going for tertiary color you opted for light blue in place of void. Instead of green hills, you made a cel shaded landscape out of candy. You had better supports on the lift hill with even arches going over the coaster. And the architecture on yours is very good.
Like the candy hills, the chocolate quicksand on the immelmann. I don't know how close this is to its source inspiration as I haven't watched Wreck it Ralph but I like it for what it is. On the downside, it could have used just a bit more accent colors to distract from the sea of pink. I rate it a 75 out of 100. Commendable work and I hope to see you try more fantasy work in the future.
this is a bit hit or miss for me as a matter of taste but there's still a lot to appreciate. not sure i'm the target audience for the cel shaded look, but its a good proof of concept for combining cel shaded and non cel shaded objects. think this is one where i appreciate a lot more of the smaller details/ideas than i care for the overall aesthetic. everyone's been talking about "layer cake" rocks for years and so its cute to see some literal layer cake landscaping. the interactive rides like the go karts and mini golf really sell this map. the use of arches in this park felt like a high point as well. i like the idea of using various candies/sweets to mimic foliage and landscaping, but some of the execution felt a little spammy, particularly the candy canes by the golf course and some of the ice cream trees. i think parks like VOID and sea of symphonies are good references for non-conventional foliage that could've guided the "foliage" usage here. but perhaps im missing the point as some good rct fun seems to be the point more than a high brow cinematic build. and you definitely suceeded with the fun factor! the song rocks too and added so much to the viewing experience, i must've kept the park open an extra 15 minutes just to listen to it over and over.
As soon as I open this my teeth start to decay. And then I turned the music on, and I could feel the cavities widening. Props for originality. Some nice moments of interaction here, such as the turn wrapped around the cake. Go karts are a good inclusion and the yellow road stands out in a good way. Great station. Honestly I really respect the aesthetic you created here, it's hard to fill space in a theme that doesn't allow for traditional foliage. You created a foliage palette with things that are not plants, and I don't just mean ploppable things. It's really clever actually how you used the cell shaded objects to create layered cakes as if the objects were meant for that in the first place. It's less good looking around the minigolf with the candy canes, that just looks unfinished. Cool custom holes though. Overall it's not always as readable as you'd hope, but there's a lot to like here.
-Concept: **
Nice concept, and Josh' Cel Shaded object set fits well in bringing the cartoony candy style across.
-Content: **
Quite some content with all the candy themed buildings and foliage. I like that you've used the industrial pipes I made for the Yards as kind of a candy forest.
-Quality: **
Bit divided here, as some parts are really good, especially the cel shaded stuff, but other parts felt a bit mediocre, such as the minigolf section. I also would've liked if the station building had some color, as the white felt a bit out of place..
Overall;
Very enjoyable unique entry here. Love the colors throughout and the creative ways you've used objects to create candy with. The music also fits well and adds to the sugary atmosphere. The well executed usage of the cell shaded objects make this a standout park for sure!
Glad you buckled up and finished one of the more unique entries in this contest. I remember you being hard on yourself over this one, and honestly I don't think it's as bad as you think. Very fun entry and so different from the rest barring Ge-Ride's.
+- What a look! So cool seeing someone else break out the cel shaded look after Super Nintendo World. I don't think it works as well with more conventional objects. What I think really makes it work is that despite the visual gimmick and fantastical look, macro-wise it feels very realistic.
+ Somehow this park has really good foliage despite it being all made of candy! It's the way it's structured, with smaller bits of candy at the edges and wide open plains of pink grass. The custom trees made of whipped cream and cel-shaded trims are also really unique. I also love the ones using cel shaded spires to look like upside-down ice cream cones.
+ Love how Strawberry Shortcake Circuit weaves under the coaster. Also ties in really well to the Wreck-It Ralph theme and the music from the movie really hammers in the vibe. Haven't actually watched the movie but I can feel it.
- I don't think the Virginia Reel pieces work well for the golf course. Demolishing it and leaving the cel-shaded path pieces below looks so much cleaner to me.
- Between the big blue void in the middle of the ground and the canvas awning piece chillin in the void, it's pretty obvious this was a crazy deadline rush and doesn't have a proper coat of finish. Tragic, but also doesn't detract as much in my eyes as it may in others.
Otter, when you first hinted that this was your theme I was kind of skeptical, this really isn't my thing. And I'll just say I have no familiarity with the inspiration for this either. But you did a great job here making it work for you, so tons of credit for that. Overall I would have liked to see you be a bit more organic with it all, flowy paths and such interacting with the coaster. It all kind of felt a bit detached which detracted from the overall score for me. Certainly will remain one of the most memorable entries due to the visuals.

I still dont understand how this is accomplished in RCT2! Its like a completely different game to me regarding the look and feel. That said, you have absolutely captured the theme of Sugar Rush. My favorite part and perhaps the critical aspect of the theme was the strawberry shortcake races. Just so well done. Congrats on the well deserved Design!
