Description
The town prospered. With the success of the annual “Silver Days” Festival, visits to the town had become an annual tradition for many, spreading its fame throughout the southwest. In 1976, to celebrate America’s bicentennial, they opened the brand new “Independence Carousel,” their first permanently installed ride.
The carnival rides proved so popular that some were permanently installed. This led to the decision, in 1979, to rebrand as “Cerro Plata Park and Ghost Town.” Marking the arrival of the new shift, the Patriot Hotel was restored, becoming the town’s new restaurant, and the Cast Iron Cafe changed to an ice cream parlor. Further, a small family coaster named “Rough n’ Tumble” was bought from DK Amusement Rides.
The rebrand however, troubled many who valued above all else the preservation of the town - adding onto further controversy from 1977, when the park tore down the problematic “Ms. Ohr’s,” an action which was criticized as erasure of “uncomfortable history.” Despite these developments, Brent and the new company pledged to preserve the town and railroad, and that the park would never encroach on that. They’d find this however, to be a greater and greater challenge in the coming years… -

I've tried it, and it makes the desert look a bit too lush for how arid it is.
