Yeah, I get what you mean. I just think this is interesting in the fact that it's not often seen. I guess a lot of people would argue there's a reason for that, but I didn't want to follow the usual suit of a SFMM or SFGAd. At least no right away. You either see the big or the small funfair or seaside park, but the mid range park isn't represented. I find them pretty interesting and actually quite a challenge to gauge what's appropriate for a park of this size and budget. So this time around the choice is for regional park with a small, but growing selection of good rides. My next park, which I've been debating for a little bit now, is still not going to be the coaster-packed parks we see a lot, but should have some bigger rides. Think more water related and something that sounds like the letter before D... -

i have alot of respect for what youre doing.
the amount of research and effort put in is very apparant in the screens, and i just love it when people put this much thought into a park, even if the park is crap, the thought behind it would make it for me. luckily, your park isnt crap, its looking very good indeed, and its obvious you know how good you are, and are confident with your skills enough to entise us with these screens.
well done CP6 -

^nahh, he's just going to finish it and let it sit on his computer so he'll have something to look at when he's bored. -

really man, sarcasm is the way to go.
coming out and straight calling someone a 'noobie' only makes you look like a tool
that said, cp6, i'm looking forward to this being released very much, and i share the same excitement as expressed by bolliger about this project's completion:]
apologies for the topic spam type stuff -

Well since the topic has been so kindly brought back up, I thought I'd post an update.
There's been lots of progress since the last update. Every major ride is now in place, as are over 90% of the buildings within the park. As those are getting finished up, I've started work on the administrative and backstage areas of the park as well as some of the road system surrounding the park. While there's definitely light at the end of the tunnel, it's still a pretty long way off. It really just depends on how active I am over Christmas break. My current hope of February still stands. We'll see how far that gets.
"After the park was bought and re branded as Six Flags, the carousel was moved across the road to anchor a small expanded section of the park that included several shops, an arcade, and a kiddie coaster." -

i can't lie. none of the other screens really wowd me but this definitely does the job. not sure what it is, maybe there is more color, but this really has more atmosphere than the rest of the screens. -

That's amazing. You make it look easy with your clean style.
edit: WTF? Horrible spelling mistake.Edited by Liampie, 04 December 2009 - 12:35 PM.

I don't know what it is, but your architecture has always been my favorite
Maybe it's what Liampie said in that you make it look so easy
And you are by far the best realistic parkmaker here, everything down to the fences, foliage, and paths in that screen are so real -

Solid work, Brian. Foliage around the purple building is looking real nice to me and the different angles are helping out the area a lot too. -

Looks amazing as always CP6. It seems, though, that you're missing some deco lining on that brown building on the left.
Otherwise, just can't wait until February to see it. Hope it turns out as awesome as it looks. -

Sup, I think your tables and benches should be the same for both shops, parks get things cheaper when they buy them in bulk and sf knows this (although cheaper is a relative term so when they bought all those coasters in the 00's its no wonder why they're in their current financial state). Also you could use the rope fence that comes with the game (that you use on top of the brick that contains the flowers in the top of the screen) at the opening to the carousel, like when employees unhook the chain from one side to let the next batch of riders into the ride or, in the case of the screen, out of it. Great idea with the retracted umbrellas, but if those poles that you used to represent them are placed on the corner of a quartertile rather than in the middle of a full one, you can put 4 on that quartertile corner from each quartertile but alternate with the red and white colours to mimic the 'real' umbrellas. And because you have at least three closed umbrellas, you can make at least one look white from any given view with the other two red, and then when the user rotates the map two will appear white and one will appear red. And most people probably won't notice it, but I will.
I think the tree the farthest up in the screen is creating some graphic glitch with the adjacent building's roof but I actually like it; trees that are next to shorter buildings often branch out over them anyway. So good job!
If that fence in the lower left is dividing the main area from a maintenance area, it should probably be higher so guests can't see over it. It will still be unsightly like an SF park can be at times but they do put forth an effort to shield those places away from the guests' field of vision.
I think it will look better if you put a quartertile or a sixteenthtile column on top of those corners of the carousel base that stick out from the fences, for the sake of covering them up and adding more structure to the gazebo. Maybe you can also have benches facing on the path facing in towards the carousel for parents to sit down and watch their kids ride. They can be in the middle of the path and be sprinkled around the carousel, but only have the bench facing the carousel exist at each path tile. Maybe you could also put rope lined with small flags (as seen in many carnivals and sf parks alike) stemming out diagonally from the apex of the carousel's gazebo to each of the surrounding buildings as the general layout of the buildings with respect to the carousel is at each diagonal corner. I'm sure you'll be able to pull it off tastefully, maybe with single-rail suspended coaster track that sags on its way to the surrounding buildings and some scenery pieces for flags. If the buildings were oriented such that you could make these ropes go out along the game's grid, I would say use those same rope fences (hopefully you have the colour changeable scenery object) and stagger their heights by 1 as they expanded out from the center, maybe even by 2 or 3 at first and then 1 as they get closer to the surrounding buildings to create a more parabolic shape.
Oh and I have to throw away some trash after eating at one of your tables but I can't find a trash can so I'll just throw it on the ground.
