Iron Rattler. Rattlers getting the Texas Giant facelift as well.

It's not a new coaster, but the theme park I grew up with, SilverWood, is building a Frisbee. Supposedly the largest in the world.

    Wow they look stunning.

So is that confirmation that there will be no glass on the side of the train like Texas Giant or is the train not fully assembled? It looks fully assembled to me so no glass.

Hideous trains. I do like how open they are though.

Also, what is the track in the background? Does anyone know?

If my plans work out properly, I'll be going to San Antonio this weekend for the pass holder preview of Iron Rattler. I will be sure to keep everyone up to date, and I'll ride Texas Giant this week so I can compare the two. Very pumped up! The TPR people reports from commercial filming made it sound insane.

In DFW theme park news, we topped out two of our tower rides.

Fair Park's Top O' Texas Tower is a 500 foot tall observation ride, the tallest in the world of it's kind. It has been "christened" but I do not believe it is open yet.

And at SFOT Texas Skyscreamer, at 400 feet, has been topped of and begun testing. Also the tallest of it's kind in the world.

They are about 18 miles apart and you should easily be able to see one another from the tops of either.

A bit late in the season but we can now add FLYING TURNS to the list of coasters opening in 2013. The ride had been announced ALMOST 8 YEARS AGO (oct. 9).
