H2H7 / H2H7 Standings

The poll that liam set up clearly indicated h.a. had best park, no? I wasnt just saying my opinion.

If Heavens was the best then how come Raptor got a higher accolade score?

I do agree that Percentages would be better, would eliminate the difference in votes cast between rounds.  But if every H2H scoring has been the same then there shouldn't be a change.

Scoring is different when it's a Design submission compared to a Spotlight submission

Sure, but I would argue that a 89% on a design is much more prestigious than a 82% on a park.  IIRC 89% is the second highest design score ever, while on a park, 82% isn't very momentous.  I'm not saying that Heavens park isn't great, but rather that Raptor simply is better as shown by the voting.

  • Austin55%s's Photo

I voted Raptor differently because it was a design. Personally, I thought Raptor was about even or better than Kumba, so I gave it a 95%. If it would have been a park, I would have scored it lower.

It doesn't make a difference right now, as is obvious by how the votes came out, but an average of percent differential from each match would make the most sense to rank after the W/L records.  This way a low voter turnout doesn't hurt the park.

This could make it possible for a team to go up against forfeits for all the rounds they win and beat out a team who won in several tough matchups, but lost the same number of rounds.  So who knows.

    STANDINGS BREAKDOWN

At the end of the regular season, the standings would have looked like this:

Rank. Team ... "Record" ... Average Aggregate Park Score

    1. Replacements ... 19-11 ... 79.12%

    2. Heaven's Kitchen ... 16-14 ... 78.64%

    3. Hurricanes ... 14-16 ... 74.47%

    4. Reservoir Dogs ... 12-18 ... 75.38%

    5. RevoLLutionists ... 9-21 ... 72.58%

    6. Flying Germans ... 5-25 ... 66.90%

This set up would have had the same semifinal matches that actually occurred.  After the playoffs, the rankings based on each team's average aggregate standings looked like this:

    1. Heaven's Kitchen ... 82.30%

    2. Replacements ... 79.52%

    3. Hurricanes ... 76.10%

    4. Reservoir Dogs ... 74.28%

    5. RevoLLutionists (unchanged)

    6. Flying Germans (unchanged)

These rankings also happened to match the end-of-season rankings.

Terra Progressia def. Europe ... 15-0 ... 100.00/0.00 ... 111.90/-11.90 (this is a funny mathematical result stemming from Europa being so unfinished.  Logically, the model predicted a shutout, so I won't include this match in the end analysis)

    Le Reve Parapluie def. The Class ... 28-2 ... 93.33/6.67 ... 101.92/-1.92 (also won't be included)

    Mythos won by forfeit

    Corsair Veredian def. Parque Warner ... 25-8 ... 75.76/24.24 ... 75.26/24.74

Overall, the average difference between actual and predicted vote percentages was just 8.39%.  Also consider that that's with only 2 total accolade panel scores and many parks with just 1 or 2 community vote scores.  I'm almost certain that H2H7 will be even more accurate.

Standings updated for round 2.  Made two small changes: the coefficient in the poll score is now 3.5, rather than 3 (poll scores were a little too low compared to the other scores), and Raptor's accolade panel score has been excluded (people were voting as a design, meaning higher scores).

Pridelands def. Indiana Jones ... 13-10 ... 56.52/43.48 ... 86.21/13.79 (the difference here of nearly 30 percentage points is the largest I've seen in this season or last.  I would say the vote was skewed because this was a RCT2/LL match, but the match above was accurately predicted, so it's unclear how there was such a huge disparity.  The model says Pridelands should have dominated this match)

I'm guessing it's because of the huge number of Null votes which skewers the numbers greatly since not many people can vote legally in the RCT2/LL round, both RCT2/LL round did not have more than 26 votes with 55 null votes in Indiana Jones vs. Prideland, an HUGE number that does not give an accurate result on what the community thinks of it since they cannot view it. This means out of 81 votes, only 26 vote counted, an huge margin and 60% of that 26 votes went to one park, 40% went to the other. There was double the number of null votes than actual vote for that round in BOTH round 2 park matchup that had RCT2/LL combo.

So you are saying that if only the members who were able to vote in the poll rated the park for an accolade, they would of rated the park a Silver?  Probably isn't the case that the number of null votes completely skewes the data in such a way as to create a massive error.  Especially when the other LL/RCT2 match up was accurately predicted despite having a similar number of null votes (58 vs 52).  In the end, its probably a result of Indiana being submitted as a design, rather than the null votes.  Designs are voted on a different scale than parks, a 75% on a design is regarded as a very high/rare score, where a 75% on a park is much more common, even before the voting on H2H parks was allowed.

  • Dirk Pitt%s's Photo

I looked at Indiana Jones rating, it's at 73% right now with 7 votes. Pridelands is at 84% with 16 votes, double the amount of votes. As for Indiana Jones being an Design, is Prideland also considered an design? If not then perhaps that's another reason for the voting inequality. But if you're saying 75% is silver for design and this is rare, Indiana Jones is nearly there while Pridelands is Gold for a park (?) design which is also rare, so both of them are considered rare enough and equal in the rating for design vs. park.

Yes, I'm saying that because Indiana Jones is a Design, and PL is not, Indiana is probably rated lower than it would be as a spotlight submission.  Hence, the gap is probably smaller than the ratings indicate.  If Indiana was submitted as a park, it would be very possible that the rating would be higher.

But I wouldn't attribute anything to the low number of ratings compared to PL, probably wont change much if it got another 10 votes.
