If iris is basing a lot of these opinions on PT entries, it's interesting to see who got far and who lagged. slob ahead of John? Kumba moves into the top 10? And I think the whole Kevin/darkjanus thing applies only to those in "the know" ( ).

I also love how Blitz is in the top 6 without even releasing anything in the past year. In fact, the only thing I've ever seen from him is his section in the Wannabe Collabo.

Hopefully he is working on something other than Anti. I loved some of his RCT2 things, but until he finishes something or comes close, I don't see it fair to put him top 6.

For the potential iris is going based on the skill he or she has shone in screens, incomplete work or the little released work they may have. It takes real releases to become a parkmaker. Blitz has shown that he has the skill from those other sorces, but he has given us released evidence.

That's the way I think it works anyway.

1) I have been working on something, and Iris knows it and knows it's like, 99.9% done.

2) college has kept me from doing too much RCTwise, and I won't truly be free till this december when I graduate and get my associates.

3) Iris's basis for these lists is pure fanboyism =P

iris posts a random list and the losers whine about it, hilarious.

Blitz is on there coz what he has created surpasses the quality that is needed for being a parkmaker. So the only thing left to do for blitz is to finish some stuff (reminds me, i'll have to dig up anti) and he'll become a parkmaker.

I'm so glad DJ is numero uno.

People stop complaining about finished work. 90% of that list doesnt have a finished work to their name.
They are the most talented non-parkmakers at this site in my opinion, starting from the most talented, to the 25th talented.
In my opinion, DarkJanus is the absolute best fantasy RCT2 parkmaker, maybe excluding Mala or cBass. That counts for something in my book. He builds parks differently, and usually I'm right about these hunches, just give him a chance and see if he doesn't amaze you. Kevin is without a doubt the most talented theme-park creator I've seen in a long time. With the right finished work I woudl possibly put him ahead of most of our current NE Parkmakers, just like cBass did (going from non parkmaker to upper echelon parkmaker). He would be a parkmaker in a heartbeat if he would finish something, but since he hasn't...he's number two right now. Slob and John have always been neck and neck, really it was a toss-up between those two. I could have put John 3, slob 4...wouldn't have made much difference.
And anyone doubting Blitz's capabilities really has no right to. If you've seen Florencia Valley and the Anti Project, you'd know that Blitz plays the game with a Mala-like amount of detail. He is possibly THE most talented non-parkmaker, but he's been on this list so long that he's just slid down to #6.

Sorry, but I have to agree with Jkay on this: let the parks do the talking. Maybe all people on that list have a chance to get a parkmaker, but there are many more talented parkmakers out there that might be worthy to get the parkmaker title and are not on the list.

Of course there are some extremely talented parkmakers not on the list tyandor, yourself included.

Just a word of advice from Janus....there are already those that are extremely jealous of you (I could give names, but I think it's pretty evident already), just don't let them get to you. Whatever they want to complain about doesn't matter at all...because bottom line is they are jealous. Why should someone else worry so much about another person's success? Do they think that you getting succesful stops them getting there? There is most likely an entire club that is against you at the moment, but that comes with the territory. Just ignore the haters and continue making the parks that they can't...and you'll get acknowledged for it.

Just cuz someone doesn't have a huge body of work, doesn't mean they shouldn't be the next parkmaker. I know a lot of you would really like the designation, but a lot of you will never get there. What I look for when I'm thinking about talent is someone who seems to have an unlimited ceiling of creativity. I think the last couple of parkmaker selections (ie. cBass and Phatage) were absolutely the best choices whether made by Iris or made by the community. These two are already in my top 5 rct2 parkmakers and will be wowing us for a very long time. For the record, DJ kind of snuck up on me in terms of what he's been building, but everything I've seen screams that he should be right where he is on Iris' list.

Toon, you bring up some very good points and I totally agree with you.

I would like to add to the possible reason why people wonder how someone could be considered as a potential parkmaker without releasing any parks. I have found it very easy to start a park, build a kick ass entrance plaza, develop a theme/concept and build a ride or two while showing SS's of this early work. If you look in the Ad District, you will see tons of these and even some from members on Iris' list but that is only 1/4 of the process. In my opinion, it's much tougher to complete the theme/concept through an entire map, not to mention all the other little details that are also important to the overall theme (staff, ride settings, path elements, ect).

The other argument is if you are basing the list off of creativity of ideas and potential, then the signal you are sending is start 5 or 6 totally different projects and build a small portion of that theme and show either SS's or send it in but don't complete any of them and you'll get your recognition of being on "the list". The problem is you have people who work on one or two parks from start to finish that each take 6 months or more to build. These parkmakers are then between a rock and a hard spot. Do you build consistent to the theme (which does not show the extreme versatility) or do you build a SF type park that has 6 totally different concepts and throw it all together. I think ride6 is the latest victim of the later with his PT entry. I believe the hit on ride 6 for his PT entry was it looked like 2 different parks put together. Again that (IMHO) is the signal you are sending, show versatility not complete picture.

Again, this is just an opinion but it is what I see from my perspective.

You're right, that will get you on the list, but I don't think it'll get you the parkmaker spot. There have been a lot of #1's on the list over the last 6 months, but few have become parkmakers. I think Iris just uses the list to attempt to motivate those who he feels to have great skill into finishing something. They won't be given a parkmaker spot till that happens.

As it is right now, all the list means is that Iris has his eye on you. Nothing more, nothing less. #1 does not guarantee a parkmaker spot, so in that it is basically meaningless.

i'm jealous of darkjanus too, but not because he's more successful. I'm just mad because he, like me, has only released a few little things, shown a couple of screenshots and gets to the top without practically doing anything. The same goes for kevin, john and many others on there. but darkjanus the most.. because nothing happened between the last update and now, and somehow he climbed 21 spots. But ... it's only one opinion.
