This whole project is just remarkable.

love all the little quirks and irregularities in the buildings, and how it's still quite a restrained level of detail - not too texturally overbearing. really amazing.

So much easier to read than those hyper detailed, busy and glitchy parks we've seen lately. I love it.

What is the function of those white diamonds on the roads? Genuinely interested.

This is cool, although it is definitely missing the busy-ness of Japan for me. Hopefully if peeps are added here, it should come alive.

Pre-pedestrian crossing warnings/reminders. Basically a general "Hey, something is coming so pay attention." Can be seen near sharp turns sometimes too.

Love this, really feels like a semi-rural location in Japan. One of the interesting things to me about the coastal rural towns in Japan was how dense and modern they are while being interlaced with the hills; excited to see how you pulled that off.

I will never understand this complaint. This looks like an ordinary housing area in a not very big town like the one where you or me maybe live. And if I look out of my window right now I see maybe like 2 people. Ok, I don't live in Japan, but I'm pretty sure they also don't go outside just for the sake of being outside. Everyday life in places like this is not busy.

Regarding the screen. It's stellar, feels completely real. Only complaint would be the angled street, I think going for the shallow slope (if you have object slots to spare) might be the better move. At the moment it looks rather discrete.

Complaint is a bit strong there, was just a comment that it's missing that final spark for me. One thing to remember is we're playing a game, not real life, so I want to see an ideal version of something. If CP6 doesn't want to make that, then that's up to him, but doesn't mean I can't want for that.

Can't say I live in Japan either, but I have been a few times, and one of the things that strikes me, as well as pretty much every East Asian destination, is how alive everything feels. Tiny towns like this still have lots going on. Combine that with the fact we're playing a game, and I'd like to see a little more life, which I might get if when we see the whole picture anyway.

Tree colors bother me a bit but overall, fucking unreal. No notes.

I just loved it, great details and colors  :)

Thanks very much for the great response!

@sulakke: Like CC9 said, they're markers for an upcomming crosswalk.  The last objects I need for the park are road signs, which will hopefully give it some more context.

@trav: The town in general is meant to be quiet.  There are intentionally not many cars and I have a pretty complex system of pathfinding to specifically limit the amount of peeps that are getting to the town.  This best reflects the real town, I feel.  It's not really supposed to have a lot of life.

@tolsimir: Noted regarding the lower sloped streets.  I wouldn't mind doing it, however I have so many elevation changes on the roadways that I think it's almost too far integrated to change now.  It's a takeaway for sure to fix with the next round.

@Steve: I'll send you a note about the colors

@kenos: It's there!  A little different than the real one, but still has a similar feel I hope!

    Thanks again for the feedback!

CP6 mentioned it, but in real life this is a very quite little town.  Also it being a screen it doesn't show the movement that is there.

You know my thoughts on this Brian, this is fantastic and one of the best interpretations of a real place into RCT I think we've seen.  I feel like I actually have walked down the streets shown in the screen here.

I've looked at this a few times, and I've said this a few times, but I'll see it and say it again: you really nailed the Japanese rural architecture style.

Im so pumped to see this in game.

  • Description

For a sleepy village along Japan’s Inland Sea, the town of Shimotsui has seen more than its share of excitement over the years. Known for its quality fishing and oyster industry as well as fertile land for crops, Shimotsui also boasted incredible natural features. Mount Washuzan cast its shadow on the village below, bringing hikers and locals eager to experience nature with incredible views of the Inland Sea and beyond. As the sun rose over the water, visitors would say the area sparkled like a rainbow.
