Un-official New Element Coaster Showdown

ABOUT

• Inspired by the Roller Coaster Draft, Spotlight Showdown, and Design Statistics topics, I decided to hold a “contest” where the roller coasters crafted in the releases here at NE are pitted against each other through elimination brackets to see which one comes out on top.
  
• There are three main components to this contest: Nomination, Voting, and Winners. Each of these sections is detailed below.

 

NOMINATION

• Since there are so many parks here at NE, the public will nominate the names of each roller coaster that they want to see featured in the NECS, which will be added to The List section of this post.
  
• Nomination is accomplished through posting a reply with the coaster name and a link to the corresponding release page in the NE Database in this topic. Each reply can contain any number of coasters, and any person may reply as may times as they like. Replies that do not contain the coaster name and a link to the corresponding release page in the NE Database will not be added to The List;
  NO EXCEPTIONS.
  
• Any member that has previously nominated a coaster can have it removed from The List or exchanged for another coaster. For removal this is accomplished by posting a reply containing the corresponding number(s) in The List and stating you would like the coaster(s) removed. For exchanges this is accomplished by posting a reply containing the corresponding number(s) in The List, coaster name(s), link(s) to the corresponding release page(s) for the new coaster(s), and stating which coasters you would like exchanged.
  
• It is very likely that I will impose a 100 or 150 coaster limit on The List. You have been warned, but feel free to discuss.

 

VOTING

• Once the list is deemed complete (100 or 150 coasters, see the above) the coasters will be divided into brackets containing 2 (two) roller coasters each.
  
• A public poll will then be open to begin voting for the first round.
  
• The winners of the first round will then move on to face each other in the second round, and so on and so forth until the champion is determined.

  What about a category for best recreation? Other than that, I think this is a great idea.
  

• As brought up by posix and Louis!, should RCT2 and LL be segregated? Discuss below.
  

  So all categories are RCT2 except "Best RCTLL Coaster" which combines all the other categories in one?
  

  ^I believe all categories are RCT2 or RCTLL and then there is an RCT2 Coaster and RCTLL Coaster category.
  
  But I agree that by not having seperate categories, RCTLL will be looked over

  I think you should differ the coasters into even more catagories. I mean there are many awesome kiddy/family coasters etc that couldn't compete with a B&M but deserve some recognition too!
  

• I'm considering imposing a limit (100 or 150 coasters) on The List. Feel free to discuss below. Here's what Louis! has to say:
  

  I think if more than 100 coasters are suggested, there should be some way of voting the 100 that are in the showdown. I know it would be rather excessive, but I think stopping automatically at 100 would mean some fantastic coasters would miss out.
