Before the introduction of the accolade panel and the bronze-silver-gold categories, parks were simply submitted to the staff for spotlight consideration. The exceptional submissions won, but most submissions were rejected. Only the rejections that were still deemed worthy of precious server space and admin time were released on the site as 'Runner-Up' (now Silver). Eventually, 'Super Runner-Up' (now Gold) became a thing to reward those parks that were just a little bit better than the others, but slightly falling short of spotlight. Like with the spotlights these parks were presented on a page consisting of a long list of logos, and it was still prestigious to be featured here among the very best of the rest. I will try to recapture that feel here, but my approach needs some changes from the spotlights page.

First of all, the number of gold parks has increased exponentially, mostly because of the opening of the accolade system for contest creations. Secondly, some feel that the Silver-Gold threshold no longer reflects the actual distinction between the two. I will have to be somewhat arbitrary in my selection here, and I will actually rely on my gut. There are a few useful criteria though:

- Accolade score over 80%

- Having received at least one yes vote

- Park size (should be medium or large)

I will go with a single column as opposed to the double column view for the spotlights page, so it will be easier to modify the selection later.

Runner ups and all that stuff are things from NE's past from before my time. So Blockbusters are parks that juuuust missed out on the golden star?
